Grindcore is bands like Carcass and Cephalic Carnage. Most of the other bands in this thread are screamo.
That's what I thought. I thought you were saying what linked was grindcore, not screamo. If so, I'm lost as to what screamo is.

Like I said with Saves The Day, I would not consider them emo, but they have been classified as that before because some of their songs have emo lyrics.
I only really liked one STD song, "Freakish"... and it had EMO written all over it.

"Screamo" was more a media-hyped emerging genre than actual music genre. That's why there's a lot of contention with representative bands of the genre...because it in itself is very generic and wide-reaching. Many of the earlier bands actually do not subscribe to it's broad categorization, whereas the post-hardcore screamo emo kids have made it terribad in a "bad hair metal" kind of way...extremely formulaic, generic, and tinged with selling out.

It doesn't have to be whiney voices to be emo. In A Synonym for Acquiesce off of Bayside's first album, the chorus is:
They were also like 17 years old

Is Panic At The Disco emo? If so, they're my favorite.

Hey I consider Sirens and Condolences as one of their best albums. I was pretty big into a lot of forms of punk back then and I had never heard anything like Bayside and Anthony Raneri's voice. Instantly became one of my favorite bands and that was back when I was digging Fear Before the March of Flames.
Speaking of, Fear Before the March of Flames was a crazy arse band.

They are an intense band. Wouldn't classify them as screamo though. Don't really know what I would classify them as.
Its hard to classify screamo bands but I guess Funeral for a Friend would kind of count.

Saves the Day might just be my favorite punk band of all time. They have changed a ridiculous amount though from their first album.
Very early stuff:
Jodie
Next album:
You Vandal
Next album and most famous song:
At Your Funeral
This is where they really changed to their modern sound:
Anywhere With You
This is pretty much their final sound:
Cant Stay the Same
And they are still going strong today:
Living Without Love
I think they are at their best with their early material, although I really dig Cant Stay the Same. Just a pretty remarkable change and they still have a unique sound.

Through being cool was my favorite and their best IMO
I got to hang out with Chris and the new band last year. He was an interesting guy.

What about the used and lost prophets?

Is 30 Seconds to Mars emo or screamo? I can't tell.

While I agree alt rock, I think they're teetering the line of emo. One glance at the guys in Lost Prophets immediately made me think emo.

I think some of these more recent bands will put you in the ballpark:
The Story So Far
The Wonder Years
The Swellers
Man Overboard
City Lights
Transit
With the Punches
State Champs
Handguns
Major League
I Call Fives
A Loss For Words
Freshman 15
Fireworks
Better Luck Next Time
Then some of the older mainstays are still putting out new stuff and touring, such as:
Set Your Goals
Saves the Day
Motion City Soundtrack
Taking Back Sunday
New Found Glory
All Time Low
Yellowcard
Say Anything
Bayside
I hesitate to throw a label like "emo" or "pop punk" on any of these because..honestly..who gives a shite?
