I don’t think you know what a cover band is

Velcro Pygmies, Fly By Radio, Greta Van Fleet.

All the same.

whose songs are they playing if not their own? Your point seems to be "they sound too much like another popular band" which again, if you like and enjoy that other popular band why should GVF bother you? To me it seems like it'd be like finding an old stack of unreleased material dusted off in a basement somewhere with totally new and unheard material, which actually sounds like it'd be pretty awesome.

just admit that they were a LZ cover band

what LZ songs do they play?

This guy pretty much destroys Pitchfork here and he hates talking about Greta. Pretty much says there's some big problems with the album but Pitchfork put out a God awful review

Anthony Fantano kind of addresses this. He basically says they lack self awareness. Its one thing to be influenced by a band but put your own spin on it, its another thing to just completely rip off a band's sound. LINK

It's not just the sound. They rip off the sound, clothing, and mannerisms. The "cover band" comment is made because they are probably the most derivative band in the history of rock and roll.

Just got nominated for 4 Grammy's - seems like they are doing pretty well despite some of the comments on this post.

Do they have Zep, Black Crows, Aerosmith, among others, influence? Yep.

I don't care if other classic bands influenced them and frankly I enjoy the results of that influence.

Saw them live over a year ago - great show and the crowd was amped up. I'll go back.

There's a lot of trash that gets nominated for Grammy's. In fact, most of what's represented at that show is trash.
