Questions.

Any of you going?

What have you heard regarding Vaccine/Masks?

Not looking to get into a pissing contest about masks etc. Just know that Clapton is very anti vax and mandates, but city of houston and a large venue is ripe for masks and requirements.

Im vaccinated and in HC. Again NOT to get in a pissing contest. I only mention it to say I have the vax and the card to prove it. Do not care who wants to see it. I want to see a guitar legend. I don't care if Eric Clapton will personally ask me to remove my mask. I will do it. IF he sounds good and plays Lay Down Sally. LOL.

Just wondering what everyone is hearing about Houston venues and masks, vaccines, and proof.

That is all. If I want to argue I will go to the poli board.

I'm pretty sure Abbott's executive order stops the venue from asking for proof of vaccination. Masks will more than likely be optional. Clapton stated he's not playing any venues that require anything.

I could be wrong. Maybe somebody else will have a better answer.

Hope so.

IDO NOT CARE. What is asked. I passed on John Prine just before covid and he died. Gonna see Clapton.

I understand that Clapton is ALL IN on being anti vax Even after having it and bad side effects.

There is a YouTube video of him getting interviewed. He uses the term “the jab” about 5 times. Who originated that term? I doubt Clapton is here reading. I always thought it was our poli board guys.

That being said, I went to see him at Smoothie King a few years ago. Glad I did, but he was short on the songs I would want to see as a Clapton virgin. He let Paul Carrack sing "Tempted" from his Squeeze days and "How Long" from his Ace days. No "Bell Bottom Blues", no "Layla", no "Lay Down Sally",no "Wonderful Tonight".

Based on the setlists on this tour so far, it's just okay IMO. Although the dude is in his 70's, is a GOD (old reference), and can do whatever the hell he wants.

Clapton is playing Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans Sat. 18th Per the notice I received through a Ticketmaster proof of 1 vaccine injection is required, and mask will be required to be worn anytime you are not eating or drinking.

looks like set list is only 14 songs and not a great list!

Post a picture of the notice.

"Texas Senate Bill 968;

prohibits businesses from requiring customers to provide any documentation of their COVID-19 vaccination or post-transmission recovery in order to enter or receive service from that business." Jun 15, 2021

"Famed musician Eric Clapton said on Wednesday that he will not perform in any venue that requires audience members to be vaccinated against COVID-19." Jul 22, 2021
-Eric Clapton

Edit: I just noticed you said Louisiana. I don't know what will happen there. But here in Texas, there will be no restrictions.

Looks like NOLA is the only city on tour with restrictions:

Show was a pleasant surprise. Only 90 minutes, but he’s old. He played Layla, Cocaine, Tears in Heaven.

All business. No chit chat. “Thank you”! I about all you get.

Half of his solos/ leads are played by the other guitar player. He plays the closing solos or finales. Voice is faltering at times, but he’s a 76 year old smoker or former smoker so…? To be expected. It’s not Willie Nelson bad.

The acoustic he played is probably my favorite I’ve ever seen. 000-42K Goro. A tribute model to a friend of his who was some type of artist. Turquoise all over the thing.

I saw the Fort Worth show. I wished he would've played Lay Down Sally, Badge, Bell Bottom Blues, or more of the 80's stuff. I am glad I saw him. Top notch band: Steve Gadd, Paul Carrack, Nathan East, Doyle Bramhall

Bell Bottom Blues,

After hearing him for a few mi utes I knew that wasn’t happening. I think the only people onstage who can hit those notes now are his backup singers.

Surprised my son with tickets and went last night. He’s been playing guitar for about a year now and loves Clapton. In Fort Worth they did Crossroads and swapped in Cocaine for this show. So I hated not hearing that song. He did have an unbelievable solo during I shot the sheriff that the crowd went nuts for. For almost 80 I thought it was a great show

I’ll be at the Smoothie King Center tonight. Happy to get to see him while he’s still around.

Sounded great singing and playing was top notch. Solo on I Shot the Sheriff took the cake.
ETA: At SKC tonight.

Agreed. Great show tonight.
He did the same set list as Fort Worth I think. Except he played Cocaine instead of Crossroads

I really hate being that guy, but was there any mention of masks or vaccine passports?

Thanks and I'm glad you got to enjoy the show.

I don't remember him speaking a single word last night in NOLA other than saying one of the songs was for Peter Green and then later he introduced his band members. That was about it.... aside from singing the songs of course.
