Not mad. Annoyed would be a better word. If I was mad, I would probably resort to namecalling... it looks like you're already there.

Actually, he hasn't even name called you. He's called you a woman because he's apparently really misogynist and thinks "woman" is some sort of insult. Which is really odd.
Women can't have valid opinions on music?

Wow you got offended fast. He never said it was terrible or bad music, just said he had never heard any of the artists (same for me)

I guess. He sounds like a bitch, is that better?
I didn't see anybody "ripping" anyone's taste in music, as he claimed, and he freaked out. I think he has deep, unresolved issues and should seek professional help. One warm shower and we have a mass murderer on our hands.

Of course there was ripping on people's taste in music. Look at this comment which kicked things off:
It's clearly stating modern music sucks. Therefore, people who like modern pop music have bad taste in music.
You need to calm down. The only person angry here is you.

Me too. Sucks that popular music has sunk so low. I remember popular music actually was good when I was growing up.

lol I think the world revolves around me and most bands in this thread suck because I've never heard of them.
Get over yourself or GTFO. Maybe you could use a thread like this to, ya know, expand your own music library. I know I will.
he was referring to my post "lol i've only heard of like 3 artists in this thread" clearly, i was bashing people's taste in music
then
quote:
No hard feelings, but it's really stupid to come onto the music board and try to rip on others because you are narrow minded. Maybe I misunderstood you.
eta: why would i be mad? i'm enjoying this guy's breakdown.
eta2: that reply didn't tick anything off

IMO popular music was never that great as a whole. Maybe some good artists here and there (just like how it is now).
Let's all make up
Let's all make up

"Never heard of them" is easily solved by a quick google no matter the artist
Posted on 12/5/12 at 3:47 pm to The Seaward
quote:
Animal Collective- Centipede Hz
Cloud Nothings- Attack on Memory
Beach House- Bloom
All solid choices but none would crack my top 5.
I do really love the cloud nothing album.
My top 5 to this date, and it will likely change based off other's best of lists.
Lower dens - nootropic
purity rings - shrines
chromatics - kill for love
grimes - visions
And probably one from these, as I can't pick - Honorable mentions - cloud nothing, tame impala (could ascend as only been listening to it a month), goat (same as tame impala), lotus plaza, frankie rose - intsellar.
Much easier for me to make this decision in 2013, when I can absorb year end music.

I don't know how you take that from his comment. I have no horse in this race whatsoever. I know none of you, but what he said was not controversial.

Most modern pop music is indeed garbage. I don't think SUB would even argue that.
I take no issue with what the guy said. He stated a cold, hard fact. He hasn't heard of most of the bands. He didn't say anything close to insulting toward those bands, just that he wasn't familiar.

Y'all are giving music snobs a bad name. How do you know he hasn't googled any of it?

Let me clear this up. Greatlakes, my original post wasn't meant to poke fun at your post, which is my fault for the way I structured it.
I was really referring to this post by redhawk:
When I first read it, I thought that he/she meant that all todays music sucks, but I may have misinterpreted it and he/she meant that just popular music today sucks.
My mistake.

My tastes have been all over the place this year so my top five will show that. Tons of good stuff out this year but these would be the top five albums I played all the way through the most this year.
First two have all kinds of press on here and elsewhere for good reason.
Cloud Nothings - Attack on Memory
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.a.a.d city
Next three may not have heard much about
Dark Time Sunshine - ANX
First "underground" hip hop album that has really grabbed me in awhile. Absolutely love the beats and the rapping is on point too.
Can't Wait
Rangklods - Beekeeper
stumbled upon this on spotify and really fell in love. Unique and mysterious eltronica type sound from this dude in Denmark - can't really describe it but if you like Grimes I imagine you would like this.
Clouds
Allah-Las - Allah-Las
New garage rock with a throwback sound that really works for me. Perfect lazy drive music to zone out to
Tell Me (What's on Your Mind)
Honorable mention to Passion Pit and the Lumineers although the indie folk thing is growing old for me lately.

going to check these guys out soon. just heard about them today. they were compared to the zombies and the kinks, which sounds right up my alley.

just gave this one a listen on spotify. hard to tell after just one listen, but the track "brains" certainly stood-out.

I also feel like these are albums not records
