Ill be honest I'am by far an expert on what dubstep is but tried to listen an figure it out what it is after hearing a lot about it and do people actually like to listen to this stuff. I mean I can get if your trying to get girls in a club putting up with it but people at listening to this stuff on their own. I also watched some DJ "performances" that i cant believe are popular i'm dont understand at all. I hate to sound like an old man but I just dont get this at all maybe im missing something

Sounds like shite unless you are on the good stuff.

I saw Questlove on Saturday night and it was by far the best DJ set I have ever seen. He blew me away.
Dubstep sucks balls.

I liked it for awhile but it got real old real quick.
I will still listen to some trance and some house and I enjoy whatever genre you would like to call pretty lights (especially his older more hip hop oriented style) but the only dubstep producer I can even tolerate even more is Flux Pavillion.

If you're under the age or 30 and lift weights routinely, you'd probably understand a little more.

In the gym is the only time I listen to it...and even at that it's in a playlist mixed with various rap, rock, and house music.

Last February, I had a few mushroom chocolates and some methyldioxymethamphetamine before a Bassnectar concert.
Normally, I don't even dance when I'm drunk, let alone stoned or sober. That night, though, I was one of the wooks taking up a 6x6 space with my dancing.

Honestly, dubstep is not what it used to be.
the Electronic Dance Music scene when it was still undergroundish was actually very diverse. Mainstream dubstep like Skrillex brought all these posers into the scene with a mentality that to enjoy dubstep u have to be on sometype of drug. It sucks becoming mainstream.
people like the concerts because you are all just going crazy and dancing.

I won't say dubstep is the best, but it isn't terrible. As for as dance music goes I am a breaks and trip-hop guy.
I can see why people think dubstep is dumb though.

If you don't have much experience with electronic dance music (EDM), Dubstep isn't a good place to start. The movement over a course of a dubstep track is huge, so it's hard to follow if you're not more familiar with the structure. I'd compare it to Metal in that way, if you just go straight from Pop Rock to Metal, it's just too overwhelming.
Progressive House, Electro House, Trance, and Drum & Bass are all better genres to get familiar with before Dubstep.

I have held multiple residencies and played in several states.
Dubstep- sounds like a transformer and an 808 getting it on. i like it but it sounds like the shite that my friends and I would throw away after playing around with sound forge and acid for hours on end.
I truly love electronic music, but i hate that drum and bass has evolved into dubstep, or at least it appears that way. there are still some DnB dj's/ producers that keep dropping proper music but the list is shrinking.
on a side note however, things in florida look to be picking up on the breakbeat(my first love) side of things so that is a plus
