I really enjoy his music, but do real music mavens think of him as an authentic R&B, New Orleans, jazz, funk, or whatever you want to call him artist?
Clearly he's not Vanilla Ice, I'd think, but what do you think?
I'm listening to some of his stuff on the Starbucks-featured Back to New Orleans CD, which I bought, and which is legit.

Please tell me you are kidding.
I saw Dr. John in 1969 at the Prairieville pop festival. He did a voodoo magic show. He is as New Orleans as pralines, man.

You've got to be kidding. The guy is one of the most respected musicians around . . . especially by other musicians. He started out as a kid playing funky blues clubs and quickly became a sought after session musician when still a teenager. He's the real deal.

I'm thinking this thread didn't turn out as he anticipated.

There you go. But you still need to apologize.
