He should do a concert for his native state.

Love some Buddy 'mutherfricka' Guy.
Champagne and Reefer
The stare on his face at the 1:19 mark is awesome

It's sad you had to bump this thread before it started getting some post.

I know. Buddy's a true Louisiana Legend and his impact on generations of guitar players is immeasurable.

I was surprised the Levon thread from Friday got like 5 responses while the 2$hitz thread above it was getting pages worth.
Buddy is very underappreciated as a whole by the people of this state

Good for Buddy! I like that his webpage has Lettsworth, La at the very top.

Buddy Guy is a bad arse musician! Respect.
Sonny Landreth also comes to mind...bad arse guitar player from LA. who gets too little recognition.

agreed, Sonny is a man on the slide. at Crossroads last week, Both Sonny and Buddy were introduced as Louisiana natives. I dont recall any other musician being introduced by there where they are from. it makes me wonder if they requested it...I hope so,

Have seen him 8-10 times. He has moved me as deeply as any player I've ever seen. Just like his club, he's legendary.
nice 225 interview
As a teenager you moved to Baton Rouge to live with your sister and attend McKinley High School. What was the city like in the 1950s?
It sure seemed like a real big place coming from the farm. I still remember plucking my two-string guitar for hours and hours on my sister's porch and goin' downtown with a man who bought me my first real guitar.
Guitar Slim, Lightnin' Slim, Muddy Waters, they all came through this little club off Government Street, and I would always be the first one to show up, pay my 50 cents and wait for them to come on the stage.
-----Muddy Waters in a small club for 50cents. What would I not give to have experienced some of those! Love his journey from playing with screen wire & cans in Lettsworth to being decorated by the President with Kennedy Center Honors...
You know, I was born on a farm, and when we first met, I told the president, “This is a long way from pickin' cotton for 30 cents a day.”
Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, & Rolling Stones 1981 at Buddys Checkerboard Lounge. This is now available with cleaned up sound HERE or in torrents
