When they used the F word, it was really those 2 appliance movers speaking so it was ok.

Plus, speaking as someone who was in college when this record was released, back then the word was still usable in everyday dialogue. This was a good three or four years before the Knights of the Political Correctness Table convened.

Not as good as Dire Straits.

Actually, the title could be quite a clever pun.

How has this song escaped the PC shite?

It actually got banned in Canada a few years back for several months until common sense prevailed.

The back end of that album was Mark Knopfler genius. The bluesy sound was my favorite part of that great album

Why Worry now
Your latest trick
The mans too strong
Ride across the river

Etc

Great listening.

Knopfler is great, it’s just so easy for him. Kinda pisses me off.

Really underrated guitar song. I never did quite get exactly what was going on in that song lyrically, but I worked like hell to learn to play that.

His guitar solo on sultans of swing live ranks at the top in guitar solos.

You ever watch any of his guitar tutorials?
I can’t play myself but he was saying stuff like people play these notes like this... I do them this way stuff, cool to watch even if you don’t know how to play.

He is the guy that I try to learn from, more than anyone else, trying to get that tone with my fingers, and trying to make really simple stuff sound great. The rhythms that he finds too, like mixing country/blues/folk together at once, pretty great. I keep plugging away at it.

For people who like the way he plays.. I suggest learning that Open C tuning.

I always thought this cartoon character looked like Jay Leno.

Thank you. Luck, is when preparation meets opportunity. I've had many opportunities, but my preparation had not been quite solid enough. I think I'm getting there now.

Knopfler was on Prairie Home Companion many years ago. Garrison introduced him by saying something like, “Here’s a man who”s made so much money that he can now do anything he wants. Fortunately for us, he wants to play music with us tonight.”

That has to be nice.
