Tony Iommi, and really most of the big name British guitarists, were all heavily influenced by American blues musicians.

There is a machine somewhere that is responsible for nipping Iommi’s fingertips away and basically invented downtuned heavy goodness

He was in Louisiana not too long ago. His son Jack married a girl from the Lafayette area.

I'm not sure but I think Eric Clapton went and visited the area with Levon Helm. I believed it inspired some of his music.

Pre-Black Sabbath, Pre-Earth ... Iommi and Ward's band was very much so an American blues band.
