I find this song more comforting than sad. It puts life and so called "problems" in perspective.

That's the beauty of music, it awakens different emotions and feelings in different people. While I agree with what you're saying, I find the minor chords in the song kind of give it a sort of melancholy feel, which I love. It's really a beautiful song. Some of my favorite tunes are right along these lines. A lot of the songs I write are in a minor key because for me, it brings out all the raw, dirty, from within feelings that make for great songs.

You bastard. I scrolled 3 pages to get to this.

"There's a hole in daddy's arm, where all the money goes.

And Jesus Christ died for nothing. I suppose. "

Metallica. Fade to Black. It is cliche now but it still is. A friend of mine blew his brains out to this song on repeat in a CD player. Or so I was told.

The Smiths catalog. "Let Me Get What I Want" is first to pop to mind.

That song sounds so peppy, but then you realize the only lesson today is how to die. I used to love the Rats back in their prime.

My wife had a cousin who did the same thing to Free Bird. She hates that song to this day.

Forgot about this one. I had a friend in high school who was really in to John Prine. Very sad song. Neil Young's "Needle and the Damage Done" is depressing so is Brad Paisely and Allison Kraus' "Whiskey Lullaby."

Haha.

You know, I read a John Prine interview where he was talking about how it is one of his biggest songs, but very depressing. Yet, he'll be at a party and people will ask him to play it. I forget the exact quote, but he is basically responds like, "WTF is wrong with you, we're at party, I'm not playing THAT song."

Some other depressing ones by Bob Dylan:

The Ballad of Hollis Brown
