everything got blaze just said
I felt at home back in the 80s with the heads and it's not till recently that I've felt that way again...since Chicago and fare the well. that was the happiest three days I've spent since then, and my wife and I have made trips to boulder twice and shoreline since then to see dead and co. The musics not the same but it's not supposed to be...the scene is right where I left it though and that's what I missed the most

JRAD lead me to the DEAD! My dead head buddy got me to a JRAD show 3 years ago in new orleans and we have made it every year since then. We are waiting on Dead and Co next year and we are picking a 2 night stand and making that happen. we told the wife's they could come along but could not come to the shows. we love our wife's but there is no love of the dead in them!

Hoping to catch Yonder/Govt Mule and JRAD both in August. Went to 5 shows last year. Expensive to see shows on the Rocks compared to some smaller venues, but when you're there -- it's all worth it.
Yep. Will be at RR for Mule with some podnahs for my 40th BD.

I was there last night as well. Helluva show! Might have been the best D&C show I've seen. Tonight is going to be awesome.

You then pay in advance for a party bus ticket that will pick you up at a bar and drop you back off in Denver at an after party. You'll have to excuse me if you are a Red Rocks vet.

Wow. Last night looked like a killer closing show. Listening to it now.
Sad to see the tour end, but grateful for what the shows have done for me. Two in Boulder were something I didn't think I'd get to experience.
Not sad for long, though. The music never stops, JRAD tickets bought for Red Rocks! I'm so damn excited for that now.
Edit:
Chimenti on the keys during Friend of the Devil last night! That build into "got two reasons why..."

John Mayer is the best fake Jerry hands down
Posted on 7/9/17 at 8:48 am to Burt Reynolds
I'm reposting here what I posted on a dead & company fan page the other day:
Real talk from a JM fan now converted to GD fan and on the damn bus.
So my first knowledge of JM was in college and "Your body is a wonderland" song that came out strong throughout every college campus. My only GD knowledge throughout high school and college was the typical "Uncle Jonh's Band, Ripple, touch of grey, truckin, friend of the devil". But this was also when Dave Matthews was on fire and even though it wasn't hard for any girl with a good ear to hear there was more to Dave than just what what we got via radio/college shows, I didn't apply this to JM immediately. It took me catching wind of the John Mayer Trio to make me start going through his catalog of music that was NOT and will never be on radio. And so i fell into the JM hole and kept keeping up with him. Told my husband who is a huge GD fan, "this guy is a legit guitar player and I swear to you he is so much more than what the radio gives us." It took me begging my husband to go to NOLA to a JM show to make him believe.
So flash forward to the day it was announced "Dead & Company with John Mayer". This created immediate excitement for both of us. I knew without a doubt in my mind, this would be an outstanding chance for JM to show how versatile he really is and my husband was also excited bc he has been a GD fan since high school.
Boulder became our goal show. And we made it happen and I will tell you this right now...WSP and Phish can only wish they could ever emote all the feels that came through in Boulder this year. I found myself crying during some songs -not only at Boulder but also during streaming shows as well. I am now OBSESSED with GD and my husband is all in with JM being in the band. It works and it is a continuous work of art in motion at every show. If you actually get to go to a show and you are a true believer that the music never stops and you get to witness JM with the band (and let us not forget Oteil) you WILL feel it. I get it. All of it. I now understand how an entire subculture formed around this band. I get it. I speak directly to the GD fans who have been there from day 1. I get you. And I promise JM gets it and you can tell every show he progresses further and further and I can tell Bob is showing him the way. For those of you still on the fence, have faith. Believe. What a time to be alive! I know you miss Jerry, but I hope you can feel him through JM and Oteil and the whole band and feel Bobby showing them the way. I thought I went to church in Boulder, yall. Raising my hands in the air saying AMEN. Let us not be sad the tour is over, let's believe there is a next tour coming up on that next level that Bobby mentioned in that interview.
For those who are intrigued about John and genuinely want to know more about his music...i would recommend the John Mayer Trio first. Then, "Where the light is Live in LA", Also, search his live versions on youtube bc as he as aged he has "extended" his songs into much cooler jams live than what is on the released album. Examples of my favorites (live): Vultures, I don't trust myself, edge of desire, gravity, slow dancing in a burning room, I'm gonna find another you, all we ever do is say goodbye, wildfire, dear marie, on the way home. The guitar and lyrics in slow dancing, and i dont trust myself....?? but also lyrics of edge of desire..."I want you so bad I would go back on the things I believe"....if you can't feel that, you have never been in a crazy messed up relationship before.
Then, there was that time John dabbled in some country on CMT crossroads with this Keith Urban dude who I thought was a total bro country no talent hack until I witnessed this. What! That dude can play a damn guitar too. My favorite is "Till summer comes around". These two vocally and guitar on this song giving me all the feels. Then check out their version of gravity. I would also point you to them playing "Don't let me down" from the crossroads guitar festival. I should keep going but if you get nothing out of all the JM examples I just gave, you will never accept him. And I hate that for you. I'm so glad I found my way to GD through John and all I can do is smile and be grateful that I get to witness John go into this next bad arse phase of his musical career with Dead & Company. I hope the rest of you can or will feel it too.

Boulder was something else for me too. It brought my level of appreciation of the band and the music to unexpected levels.

The whole dead and company phenomenon is interesting to me. This isnt the best post jerry dead band imo, but by adding the pop factor of john mayer, and playing bigger places because of it, people seem to be buying into it. I havent seen a show, so i hold my final judgment until then, but i find the music to be soulless, a carbon copy. Watching streams and listening to the shows is boring. The vibe of the grateful dead always translated to tape when the band was on.
