re: David Bowie let's dance
Great video with Nile Rodgers. One of my favorite songs from Bowie is "Life on Mars". Rick Wakeman played keys on that song, and his solo and description of the writing of it is also great. Check them both out.

That's a nice little road trip.

Here is a Rolling Stone article about the making of the video and a related short film. LINK

quote:

When Bowie landed in Carinda, it was, to quote journalist Matt Coyte in the film, “like an alien was walking down the street.” “Imagine David Bowie arriving in this sheep-shearing hamlet with few crew and no huge entourage of bodyguards,” Shah adds. “It was quite risqué.”

That's very cool. Didn't know all the background to the video.

about him in the 70's

If you dig the Berlin Trilogy period and are ever in Berlin, I highly recommend the Bowie Walking Tour put on by a guy who gives Hansa Ton Studio Tours too.

We started at Hansa Studios, took a subway train to the Bundestag (where the famous 1987 concert was held), trained to his old apartment in Schoneberg (the one he shared with Iggy Pop), and ended up at the bar down the street where he frequented. You hear fascinating stuff about the Berlin Wall too.

I love this album. Bowie was a true chameleon who always altered himself to the times. This album is pure cheese 80’s. But as usual he one upped the competition by adding SRV and creating the catchiest songs in an era of obnoxiously catchy music.

Blue Jean was off the album: Tonight

Not one of his best efforts..

Neighborhood Threat and Blue Jean were the only decent songs on that album.
