Any other lovers here? Still can't understand why he has such a massive inferiority complex about his place in country.

Love his music, but he was probably the worst performer I've ever seen. Complete dickhead.

The inferiority complex comes from not being in the hall of fame & never being invited to any award shows (I could be wrong about this)

I think there is something with the GOO too

Yeah, in the past 10 years or so his live performances have been basically ego-driven performance art.

DAC trivia, Warren Haynes of Allman Brothers and Govt.Mule fame started his career as a guitarist in David Allen Coe's band.

I have seen him many times.... 15-20 years ago he was great. The last time I saw him in 2015 it was a total embarrassment. It was all, I could do, to keep from cryin.

I hear you. Sometimes it seems so useless to remain.

DAC is a super talented artist and as such, is really weird. He did a lot of crazy stunts for attention and publicity that has gotten him shunned from country music. I think that is why he is so bitter now.

He has tons of good music that most casual listeners have never heard. It's a real shame that he's mostly remembered for his antics and racist songs.

But he was bitter in the 70's/80's when he was complaining basically about not being let into the Highwaymen.

I think it's a super old school figure of speech. The way it's used in the song you are referring to is aking to "if that ain't country, I'll eat my hat".
