Da fuk happened to Jason Isbell?

Man, that guy is a hell of a song writer but damn he has gotten away from his roots. I know he has gotten sober now but he looked 10 times healthier when I would watch him at Crossroads Café in Huntsville Al.

He was fat and drunk then, plus it was probably nearly 20 years ago. We've all aged some in 20 years.

It was actually about 2012 and he had already gotten sober. He puts on a good show.

I'm confused. Is this thread about his music no longer being good, how old or fat he isn't, or his social/political beliefs? When the op mentioned being so far from his roots, that should obviously mean music, but then he posted a picture of a dude looking very normal. So, are the important roots rooted in the body weight he's lost in the past 20 years?
Any clarification would help.

I was just half joking anyway did not mean to hurt everyone’s feelings on here. Jason is a good dude and I like his music. Probably one of the best songwriters of the last 20 years.
