Couple of Nirvana questions

1. What are their 2 best songs?
2. Were they the ultimate grunge band?
Don’t confuse #2 with the best 90’s band. I just picture Nirvana when the term grunge is brought up. Heavy, distorted, sloppy, angst, screaming. Cross between punk and heavy metal at their best.

Grunge had punk bands, arena rock bands, and metal bands. It’s not that cut and dried.
But Nirvana were rainmakers for sure.

1) Territorial Pissings
2) Sappy
They’re iconic. From their style to their sound, they epitomized the grunge era. Also, Kurdt joining the infamous “27 Club” further cemented their legacy.

1) Drain You
2) Aneurysm
They certainly check the grunge box…others were just as grunge but only a few might have been more grunge than them

Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle
In Bloom
They’re the ultimate grunge band in terms of popularity. Mudhoney are the ultimate grunge band - they never did ballads or acoustic tunes.

This is a tough one, but think I would go with these two as well.
No real opinion on question 2.

That is a great one, just love the energy especially live. Always got a kick out of this live performance.

Exactly. Grunge was a scene, not a type of music.
People call AIC Grunge, but Godsmacks first 2 albums sound very similar and they're not seen as Grunge at all.
To answer the OP, Lithium & You Know You're Right (the last song recorded before Kurt died.)

1. All Apologies, Drain You
2. They were definitely the poster child for the genre. But based on the description you had, Alice In Chains fits that mold, but AIC was a metal band first and foremost.

1. Aneurysm, In Bloom
2. I don’t think so. But most people (who aren’t Gen X) if ask would think of Nirvana first

I’ve always been more of an Alice In Chains fan. But had Cobain not died, Nirvana may have gone on to do some amazing stuff.
