Last night was an embarrassment. The show is supposed to highlight the best the genre has to offer, and if that was it, then mainstream country music is in an ever worse place than I thought.

Just soulsuckingly bad.

I dont know how the stuff out there today is even considered country.

Is there anybody out there today that even wears a cowboy hat?

Where do you live? He is huge in Texas. Every show i’ve gone to over the last ten years has been packed the frick out.

Plenty of people appreciate Texas country and red dirt. You just don’t hear about it because they won’t totally sell out.

The last word in that phrase was completely unnecessary.

Garth wasn't traditional Texas huh?

Then what was?

Not Counting You
If Tomorrow Never comes
Alabama Clay
Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) - Could be best Texas country song of all time.
Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House
Friends in Low Places
Wild Horses
Rodeo
Cold Shoulder
Whatcha gonna do with a Cowboy
Beaches of Cheyenne

I agree his later career he changed for the worse but you can't deny his early music was very good.

You also can't deny that Garth single-handedly made Country music popular again for the success of 90's artist most of us love.

I like WM, but they are more Marshall Tucker Band than George Jones. That is to say their Southern Rock and not really country IMO.

If they weren't from Texas nobody would claim them as being "red dirt" either.

Southern Rock suffers from being such a small and overlooked genre of music for anyone to ever hit it big.

They would have been better than anything on stage at the ACM's for sure though

What's the deal with Luke Combs holding that fricking red cup at every show? Douchey

Red Solo Cups are a staple for good ol boys consumption of alcohol, and mentioned in many "country" songs.

Saw him live in Houston a couple of years back and he was a disaster. Dude was flat all night. It’s mindblowing how he’s had so many hits on the radio and sounds like a wounded dog when singing live.

We got the tickets for free from our neighbors, so we left early. If I had paid full price I would have left early.

Don’t go see him live. Ever.

Not sure about this but there aren't many ahead of it though. That intro is great
