I never understood the hard on people around here have for Journey. God, I am so sick of hearing their lame shitty music.

Journey is the official band of drunk white women. When Journey starts playing, white women who were alive during the 80's get horny. Therefor, guys listen to Journey to get laid. It's a simple concept. Personally, I don't hate Journey, but after more than two songs, I get really tired of them really fast.

WIth that said, I also could do without most Aerosmith, Boston and Foreigner

Try listening to some of the Aerosmith tracks that aren't on the radio like "Movin' Out", "Mama Kin", "Draw the Line", "Baby, Please Don't Go", ect. Aerosmith has some great stuff, but what's on the radio gets played to death.

I actually never get tired of Boston for some reason.

Foreigner can go die in a fire.

Van Halen couldn't write an interesting song????

Absolutely. Their shite was tired and bored. Eddie was a talented guitarist, but soloing was his only talent. David Lee Roth was the original Anthony Kiedis.

I also didn't say that every song Hagar wrote was interesting/good, but he was by far the best songwriter to touch Van Halen.

Troof. I was at a wedding reception a few weeks ago and they played a Journey song between a couple of ridiculous line dance songs. As soon as it started, this gnarly butch chick comes running to the middle of the floor, fist in air, singing her blessed little heart out.

The main problem is not classic rock but classic rock radio. They just keep playing the same songs over and over. Would it kill them to play some deep cuts?

That's because it is all corporate and nationally programed, i don't know if it would kill them to play deep cuts, but it is simply not in their model. I have a friend that works for Guaranty on the sports side and he was telling me they do survey's and ask people their favorite songs by certain artists and play thoses. They are afraid to deviate for fear of losing market share. It's not just deep cuts either, there are bands/ artist and some 1 hit wonders that were popular that seem to have been completely forgotten by classic rock radio. the sirus/xm stations are much better in this regard.

Van Halen

Great cover band. Kept the Kinks relevant in musically very dark times.

If you can picture a dude in a T-Top Trans Am rocking out to it while sporting his standard issue wife beater and gold chain, I pretty much can't fricking stand it.

What are you 12? You have watched way too many TV shows.

Or were you talking about being dressed like this?

I completely agree. It's a shame really. Classic radio has formulated itself into something that is barely listenable to actual music fans. Music that used to stand for rebellion and modern day poetry now serves as background noise for businesses. A newer form of elevator music.

Long before this point this thread had gone full on retard, but it was at this point the trolling stopped being funny and turned into serious business. People need to think about what they are saying.

It's ironic, because this very practice of limited, boring playlists is what is causing radio to lose even more of its market share to satellite.

I love rock n roll, but hate the format of classic rock. It's such a give up. I love a lot of bands that would be called "classic rock" but I just call them rock bands.
