queen of the rodeo

i've written the ultimate country song i think. it covers all the bases

1. being poor
2. small town life
3. working in the oilfield
4. riding bulls
5. gettin drunk and shite
6. unrequited love

yeah i know i kinda suck nutz at guitar, and i forgot some of my lyrics in places. and my voice sounds bad cuz i got really drunk last night. but i'm pretty much destined to be the bruce springsteen of the south amirite?

You really put yourself out there.

Suggestion. Find a rhythm with the guitar and stick to it. There are a ton of lessons on youtube that cover popular strumming patterns. Work on that. Strumming along with the pacing of the words sounds like you're mocking the song.

Queen of the Rodeo

-by el gaucho-

Capo 2 D, A, Em, G, D, A C, G

new belt buckle inlaid with gold, truck and a trailer worth 10 of my own, I know your rig ain't tied down to a loan, making payments building fences on your daddy's payroll

he's chairman at the bank and he owns the paper mill, 5000 head of cattle, couple dozen oil wells, he sure gets a kick outta putting me down, guess love ain't nothin in a one horse town

sweet virginia, queen of the rodeo, if i was the judge you'd win best in show, looking like an angel in your homecoming gown, take my hand baby lets leave this town

sittin on a tailgate looking at the stars, pretty drunk on bourbon showing you my scars, i ride bulls and i dip cope straight, but your daddy says your going through a badboy phase

a bull named texas fury, he broke my femur, my mama says i cant rodeo anymore, he's building a reputation as a cowboy killer, hey virginia can you open that door?

virginia jane evans the rodeo queen, you were always so nice to me, but you crushed my heart like a longhorn bull, had to sell my buckles to pay the hospital bill

I'm livin in a trailer in a haynesville town, kinda by shreveport but a little further south, 20 bucks an hour call me a roustabout, see you again when christmas rolls around

they shipped you off to college down to baton rouge, like your mama and her mama i bet you're a phi mu, they'll teach you to be classy and how to be trite, and i bet you're at bogies cuz it's thursday night

virginia jane evans the rodeo queen, you were always too nice to me, but you stomped my heart like a texas longhorn, living with a waitress that i don't love, waiting on my son to be born

i hope jason aldean doesn't steal this

It's got promIse. I'd break it up a little bit with either a bridge (with a different progression) or musical interlude.

ETA: some acoustic slide would be kinda cool added in.
