B.J. Barham of American Aquarium is playing a solo acoustic storytellers type set at Mid City Ballroom on Feb. 13. Anyone going? It should be awesome. Tix are only $15.

Baton Rouge loves It some TurnAmeripike TroubadourQuarium shows. Seems like the only two bands they book

American aquarium didn't play a BR show this year and turnpike played one so...
doesn't really make any sense.
for 2019 I see:
Russian circles
clutch
dr dog
jenny lewis
tyler childers
with a ton more TBA. So no, it's not New Orleans but it's getting some quality stuff that I'm interested in.

Never saw him before he was off the wagon.
First time was last year at the Georgia Theater in Athens. Show was amazing, and after, BJ came out to shake hands and take pictures with anybody that wanted to. I was taken aback at how much he seemed to genuinely appreciate the 1,000 or so folks that came out.
Saw them again at Standard Deluxe (tiny little place near Auburn in Waverly, AL)-50 person capacity in this little old shed basically. Just as awesome, just as gracious.

Saw them once back in the day, pre sober BJ, and it was a great. Lots more talking and joking around than I've seen since. I think he spent 10 minutes at one point just telling a story and fricking with the crowd. And this was a full band show...

he's more focused now than ever. his acoustic shows are two hours of stories, songs, and lots of jokes about himself. there's no opener and it starts at 9:30pm
