A concert you were dragged to, with a band you don't like. . .
. . .that actually kinda rocked.
Counterpoint to the other thread.
I'll say Soul Asylum in 98 or 99 at the LSU Parade Grounds.
Don't like them, but they rocked the hell out of that stage.

I went to see Cross Canadian Ragweed at the NOLA House of Blues back in 2007. They had this band opening for them called "Stoney Larue" that I had never of. They were just as good as CCR and I've been a huge fan ever since.

Wife made me take her to see Sugarland about a year ago. They were pretty good in concert, but the surprise was Little Big Town....they really were great in concert, kind of thought they were like a country version of Fleetwood Mac.

Two come to mind -
INXS - that's right. pop 80s band. We went to see GNR open up for them, around 1988 or 89. I was a freshman in HS. They killed it. really great live band. GNR sucked.
Tom Waits a couple of years ago. Yeah, i knew it was going to be good. But I had no idea how good, especially at his age. It may be the best live show I've ever seen.

My wife begged me to take her to see Keith Urban. I am not a fan of country but he put on a very good show.

Glasgow. went to see Better Than Ezra at the house of blues, cause wife has never seen them. Glasgow opened for them. Was surprisingly good stage appearance. don't really care for their music but was a good show.

Peter Gabriel. Not a huge fan though I like his big hits, but my buddy was a huge Gabriel fan. He dragged me along and I think it might be the best arena concert I've ever seen (I tend to hate shows in venues that large). It was essentially a Broadway show and he absolutely killed it. Great performer.

Was that the huge music festival with Smithereens, Iggy Pop, Ziggy Marley, Guns-n-Roses, and INXS?

Nortec Collective Presents: Bostich + Fussible at ACL 2010. Buddy and I went to the port o potties and the tent right next to them was GOING OFF so we went in. It was like techno and tejano all mixed on an ipad with mariachis playing. No clue what they were singing about but it was a party. Was the most fun show I saw that year.
