Nobody mentioned John Lennon, Paul McCartney, or George Harrison, but they deserve mention. All 3 wrote and sang great songs in the 70s.

Those Beatles were so good we tend to take them for granted...

She's not the best singer/songwriter of the 70s but someone mentioned Carly Simon and Carol King.

The third wheel in the female trifecta is Linda Ronstadt.

Officially, I'll agree with whomever posted Paul Simon.
