A spinoff of sorts to the threads with the OGs reminiscing about 60s/70s music.

What is the best rock band since 2010? Or at least putting out albums post-2010.

IMO, rock sort of jumped the shark in the 1990s. Interested in hearing from folks who have their finger on the pulse for good modern rock.

Tremonti?

Volbeat?

If Chevelle had a lead guitarist would they be in the mix?

I'm way out of touch and need some low down from peeps in the know.

Bring Me The Horizon and Avenged Sevenfold have strong cases.

Know of and like Avenged Sevenfold. Still looking into the other two which are new to me.

And I didn't mean just hard/heavy/metal bands.

Rock is a very broad term. Like pornography, you just know it when you see it.

In terms of current rock I'm sort of like a blind beggar searching the wastelands for a Playboy.

Kirk Cobain killed rock n roll. And then himself.

I like. Seriously.

Does suffer from a couple of minor defects.

1. The drummer either needs to get radically better or he should be euthanized with his electronic drum kit. Or the producer should be euthanized if that song was recorded with an actual drum kit.

2. Needs a guitar solo.

Mastodon is actually pretty damn good. Thanks for the rec. Just finished the first four tracks on Emperor of Sand.

I've heard the name before but never listened to them. Their album covers/branding always lead me to believe that Mastodon would be just another group of wayward emos who found crack and guttural vocals and then decided to made a band out of it.

Decent vocals with harmonies. Very tight percussion and rhythm section. Outstanding. Interesting song arrangements. Good guitar but a bit pentatonic-ish overall.

Will listen to more.

Queens of the Stoneage. They haven't slowed down since 1998

Technically that's within the scope of the question presented so I'll allow it.

But I'm trying to find out what's generally the new scene in rock music today.

kingbob's band is good but ultimately sounds like the lovechild of Green Day and Rage Against the Machine. Some pop and punk, throw in a drop D guitar, then played over a double bass drum. I like it though.

Sort of inadvertently started a hard rock/metal circle jerk by linking tremonti/volbeat in the OP. My bad and thanks for the recs.

Who is doing this kind of rock?

Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want to Be

Stuff maybe that girls might also like.
