These songs all helped forge a young Wiki's views on liberty.

Ice-T - Freedom of Speech (The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say)

This song was extremely influential to me when I was younger. Ice does a great job of pointing out the prohibitive nature of our society. When all that censorship crap was going down with Body Count's "Cop Killer," they eventually re-released the Body Count album and replaced "Cop Killer" with a redone version of "Freedom of Speech." It samples Jimi Hendrix and is actually much better than the original, IMO.

2 Live Crew - Banned In The USA (Banned In The USA)

In the fallout of the "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" brouhaha, 2 Live Crew released an actual good album. The pinnacle, of course, was the title track. Normally I view 2 Live Crew as kind of a joke when it comes to rap, but this song is one of the best examples of political rap ever, IMO. The Boss even gave his permission for them to sample "Born in the USA."

Public Enemy - By The Time I Get To Arizona (Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black)

This list could be populated by damn near every Public Enemy song. Chuck D is, IMO, the best lyricist in the history of rap. This song is very interesting in its subject matter, and whether or not you agree with the points made in it, especially from a state's rights perspective, I think it can be enjoyed by anyone with an appreciation for the genre.

I still ike what Dennis Miller said about 2 Live Crew, First amendment heroes and all, but God is that a crappy song. I'm with him. They suck and actually benefited from the controversy.

I'd go with:

"The Message" by Grandmaster Flash

"Paranoid" by Talib Kweli

"911 is a Joke" by Public Enemy

"Man's Dollar" by Northern State

"Self-Destruction" by KRS One

What's the one by Immortal Technique that talks about bush blowing up the towers?

I consider "Burn Hollywood Burn" political:

As I walk the streets of Hollywood Boulevard
Thinkin' how hard it was to those that starred
In the movies portrayin' the roles
Of butlers and maids slaves and hoes
Many intelligent Black men seemed to look uncivilized
When on the screen
Like a guess I figure you to play some jigaboo
On the plantation, what else can a **** do
And Black women in this profession
As for playin' a lawyer, out of the question

The whole album torched, just an incredible piece of work.

Fight the Power by Public Enemy. PE was quite the politcal/militant group back in the day. It must have been Chuck D with all the pent up angst. Flave seems to like whitey.

"Self Destruction" was an all-star rap.

Most hypocritical:
"Where all in the Same Gang" - West Coast Rapper's

Had NWA and other west coast gangsta rappers putting down gangs and violence, which they where actually selling and profiting off of.

Lupe Fiasco's "Words I Never Said"

Some lyrics:
I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshite
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it
Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups
Your childs future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, that's on the up and up

This. But several PE songs come to mind.

Goodie Mobs first album had a lot of political songs, or at least touched on it.
