Anyone have any recs for new metal? I listened to the latest Gojira and Cradle of Filth over the last couple of days and enjoyed them. Anything else worth checking out?

Twelve Foot Ninja has a new album out. It's very weird, but I love it.

-I agree with Trivium.
-Although Prog Metal, the new Dream Theatre is a work of art. As usual.
-The new Tremonti album production sounds amazing. But he's becoming more and more main stream sounding. Hate it when this happens.

New Trivium is some of their best stuff for a while - I had given up on them.

I didn't include DT for that reason and they've definitely settled into a sound the last few albums. Technical masterpiece as usual that a new listener could start to get into them.

Tremonti is great but I'm not really a fan of the new album so far - you're right it's not risky at all and very boring for him.

The new Trivium album is like Shogun pt2. It's so good. New Every Time I die is amazing. The new Vildhjarta album is an experience.

They're more on the progressive side, but have some metal roots:

Haken:
The Endless Knot
Prosthetic
Messiah Complex V: Ectobius Rex

Vola:
Head Mounted Sideways
Straight Lines

Avatar dropped a new album, Hunter Gatherer, out earlier this year and I thought it was pretty good.

You can't recommend Messiah Complex without the other sections! One of the greatest prog songs ever written. Just endless intensity

The new trivium is incredible. Alex Bent's drumming has been very impressive the past 3 albums. Plus Heafy's clean vocals sound stronger than ever

Definitely very weird and has great moments. I still think it doesnt compare to their first two albums.
