Yeah, I always wonder what more he would have accomplished had he lived longer.

27 is just too young. Can't wrap my head around what a 33 year old Hedrix could do.

Skydog died at 24 and had been regarded one of the best slide guitarists in the world, for years at the time.

Imagine Duane Allman at 35.

Has anyone mentioned Knopfler yet? I agree with Richard Thompson being underrated. The guy can seriously play. And I'm going to throw Leo Kottke out there.

My father's opinion it was Carlos Montoya

Of course, Stanley Jordan can play 2 guitars at the same time

It's pretty subjective. I like guitar based music, generally. Scotty Moore, Chet Atkins, Hendrix, Page, Glenn Campbell, EVH, Gilmour, Roy Buchanan, Eric Johnson, Phil Collen - there are A LOT of guys over the past 60 years in many genres who could/can flat out play.

ETA: frick me jumping in this zombie thread - again - fricking necroposters, man.

Andres Segovia, pop rock guitarists can't hold a candle to classical guitarists.
