While Fillmore East is hands down THE definitive live album of not only the Allman Brothers Band but ANY live recording, my favorite to list to is Beginnings. It is a little more raw and I love a Don't Want You No More > It's Not My Cross To Bear opener

That Allman's Jazz Fest show, especially the Whippin' Post, bent me over like a cheap whore on the floor and left me wanting a whole lot more.

In short, I agree with your post.

I'm a huge 1990-1996 ABB kick right now. The line up was Dickie Betts, Warren Haynes, & Allen Woody on bass. This line up was ROCKIN' HARD!

"Live at the Fillmore East" is the standard, as most long-time fans would agree.

I'm pretty sure Beginnings isn't a live album but rather a repackaging of their first two studio albums.

The best one isn't on Spotify. It's their performance at the Atalana International Pop Festival in 1970. There is a CD of it, and it's on YouTube.

re: 2010 Jazz Fest set--The Melissa encore was so good with Derek playing the Dickie Betts part (with a broken leg no less).

Here is a link where you can buy that set. If you want it on CD it'll cost you $25 but you can download it in FLAC for $18. Well worth it in my opinion.

Downloaded the MP3--this set was every bit as good as remembered! Thanks for the link! By the way, the MP3 cost less--14 I think?

I started to mention that and probably should have. Personally I won't pay for MP3s or any other lossy compression format. However I'll pay the extra 4 bucks for the FLAC version and make my own MP3s from that. FLAC is a lossless format and having a pristine version is worth the extra money to me.
