My guess would be they couldn't agree on cover art so just went w/ white cover.

American DJs couldn’t see the title “The Beatles “, on the front bc it was in white. So they figured it had no name. Just called it the white album?

The original album cover was full of naked bodies, didn’t get past the censorship, so it went all white. A few released with original cover are worth a fortune....original title was to be “the doll house”

Lennon and Yoko's first album was Two Virgins and those two were buck naked in full frontal on the white cover. That might be what you're thinking of.

I own an original "green apples" copy. I cannot speak to what this may sound like, but this is one of only 2 Beatles albums that I can listen to from start to finish. I bet it will sound yuuuuuuge.

I've been listening to a lot of The Beatles Sirius/XM lately and they have been providing a lot of interesting stories and song versions from The White Album.
Whenever I'm feeling a little anxious/stressed at work and need to settle down a notch, The White Album is one of things I'll usually put on because all of the songs are pretty good and help to achieve Lloyd Braun's 'Serenity Now'.
