What do you mean you got nothin'? lol
how bout your knowledge?
Cambridge, Marantz, Emotiva etc 2 channel w/ am/fm all in the 100 watt range for ~ 1k. Recommendation?
I hope all is good with you and you are getting your place back together. Hang in there.

brsa—appreciate the well wishes man. I meant I have nothing to give as far as info that VABuckeye and pheroy haven’t already given. Those 2 guys know audio/sound, and their recommendations are legit…and currently I don’t have the time, resources, and energy to post at length as I usually do.
As for me, the house will need to be totally gutted down to the slab, studs, and joists—even the roof deck needs to be replaced. With all the structural changes we wanted to make, it is easier to start from scratch. We will raze the existing house, including the slab. Mrs. Esquandolas and I built this house 20 years ago when we were 29 and just married, and were already planning major renovations throughout to take place in the coming 2 years.
So—lemons into lemonade.
I hired an architect that will work with us over the next two months or so to design a new house. It will be totally different from the one that was destroyed by Ida. It will also give me the opportunity to create a sound room that has proper dimensions and well thought out electrical and data drops. I will also implement a server closet with a plethora of wire drops to every room in the house, so I can ditch cable and stream from one source to any or all locations inside and out, with Control4 as an operating system.
Being we are a little bit older (and wiser) than when we built the first house, the new one will be a little bit larger and upscale from the current house.
I am still working with insurance and still valuing contents, hopefully finishing the list by weeks end. The next 3 months will hopefully see closure with the insurance claims, tear down of current house, and final design of the new one, with construction beginning sometime in February 2022 and lasting 7-9 months (we hope—the build time depends on supply\materials availability…Thanks Brandon!).
So mark your calendars—December of 2022 should see an open house AudioFest here, open to the Greater NOLA audiophile group and the TD Music Board!
…and I’m eyeing Focal Stella Utopias and Pathos Arenaline mono blocs—but that may be shelved depending on how badly I get raped by construction costs due to record inflation!

I wish you the very best and stay strong.
I remodeled my mother-in-laws house after the 2016 flood and that nearly took everything out of me.
I did it for my wife and her lovely mother (god bless her soul).
One ting to remember is when this crap gets you down don't let your family know this. they will feed off of this and it will make matters worse.
It all worked out. Remember they're are a lot out there that are worse off.

I’d like to purchase a new set of speakers in 2022 and want to start auditioning some options. Does anyone know of any good dealers to work with in the Houston area?

3mA audio…Johnny Yipp is the owner. I bought my Audio Solution Figaro XL from him, and my friend bought a pair of MBL 101E from him. He will usually knock 20% off.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to pay him a visit soon. Hope everything goes well with your rebuild.

That baw is selling off some primo jazz records on Discogs. I see 3mA in the listings a lot.

I checked out his Audiogon and eBay profile. Maybe I shouldn't just waltz in there. I could leave with a much lighter wallet than anticipated. But I seriously want some new speakers.

FINALLY!!!
I’ve been waiting for this to be done on 180g vinyl for 20 years (until now, it has only been released on a double CD—1991).
To all in this thread—GET THIS RECORD! it is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. A frigging masterpiece that gets better every time I listen to it.
It is also available for $20 less on 150g vinyl ($69 as opposed to $89 for 180g).
Do it…it will make you smile for hours!

So, I know I said I was shopping for speakers but a lightly used piece of gear caught my attention and I had to pull the trigger. My new to me DAC arrived this afternoon.

Good stuff—made in Boulder, CO.

I have a nice little stack now. The DAC doesn’t match but you can’t see it in the cabinet anyway.

Nice. I picked up the PSA DirectStream DAC several years ago at a good discount, and recently got their Stellar Phono Stage on sale. (Waiting on a cartridge repair to see how it fully shines.) Their Stellar Gain Cell monoblocks are pretty nice based on reviews and are on my list to consider if/when I redo my setup.

I really enjoy my PSA M700 monoblocks. They were the first thing I purchased from them and I was really impressed which led to me buying more PS Audio stuff. I would like to hear the M1200 amps for their tube input stage but I don't think I have enough room for them at the moment.

I was trying to remember a few weeks ago which user had a ps audio stack of gear. Looks choice.
I still haven’t heard any ps audio gear before. I was looking at buying a sprout a while back to serve as my desktop hub, but apparently they’ve been hit like all electronics companies, because they’re out of stock, and have had a big delay on getting more in. Supposed to show back up sometime this month though.

Did anyone buy the most recent MBV reissues? Ive never wanted to pay over the odds before (had the CDs when they were released) and there are so many knock-offs of varying quality... I ordered these last May and they just arrived (I totally forgot about them).. I got all 3 of their proper records and they sound really good.. probably much better on some of your set ups

My bloody valentine are one of those bands that sort of slipped through the cracks for me. I was always aware of them, but never really gave them a proper listen growing up.
