So, you are looking at an amp with with a headphone jack and a pair of speakers for around 1k? Is that what you are thinking?
Also, is that number including cables?

Not including cables. I'm not sure what I need to do in order to get a headphone jack...was thinking a Schiit Magni 3. Would that be redundant to the Pro-Ject pre-amp I already have?
As far as speakers, I know I want to upgrade and I'd like to move them to the floor but in doing so I think I'd be looking at needing an amp?

Look for an integrated amp with a headphone jack. You can continue using your ProJect phono preamp to feed your phono output to the integrated amp (if the integrated doesn't have a built-in phono input). If it does have a built in phono you can compare and decide which preforms better.
I've never looked at powered speakers, so I don't know if any powered floor standers exist. ELAC makes fairly well respected starter speakers, both book shelf and floor standers.

I was going suggest integrated as well.
You can get some floorstanding ELACs for probably around $500 right now, but you’ll need some power to push them.
ELACs
You can find these and maybe some older versions on amazon right now for less than this.
A peachtree nova is a good integrated and has the arse to push the ELACs. Marco has one and it was a recommendation for me when I took the dive.
Nova
This one is on aduiogon and is about 1/2 price. Sometimes you can find a demo or an open box on musicdirect for a good deal as well.
I and a few others have the quad vena, which is a great integrated. It’s only 45 wpc thus you’ll need some very efficient speakers if you go that route. Musicdirect always has them on demo or open box for $500-$600.

My wife got me the Steven Wilson remixes for Christmas and they're amazing. I own multiple pressings of these albums, including the MoFi version of Fragile, and this is the best any of the albums have ever sounded. A must have IMO

Also, received this box set as a Christmas present from my wife (of course I made a specific request). Agree the sound and mix are very good. Listened through once at mid-listening levels, will have to crank it up when I have the house to myself.

Sorry for the time between responses. The new 802 D3's took about two weeks to come in and the matching HTM D3 took about 10 days to come. My dealer was kind of enough to send out a crew to get these beasts up the stairs into our media room.
Here's the box of one of them:
Just removed from box (2 person job) with moving bracket still bolted on:
Acesssory kit, manual, etc for each speaker. I will say this is the first piece of audio equipment that gave hardback books. ha:
Rear mid-range end caps for installation post move and attached
Rear binding posts. 100 times better quality than my old B&W Nautilus 802's:
Assembled and wired up for placement games:
One of the speakers with the driver protector on. A nice comfort to have with two kids under 4.
The new matching HTM1 D3
Thanks for everyone reading along here and sharing in my enthusiasm for new toys! In fact, I got a sub-woofer for Christmas from my thew wife, a McIntosh MHA150 headphone amp from my toddlers, and a pair of new Focal Utopia headphones from Santa!
I will show some cools pics of the sub and amp unless there are objections! Have a Happy New Year, guys!

Great sound on this one, and great pressing, as expected from AP.

Congratulations! Those are gorgeous speakers.

There ya go!
B&W knocked it out of the park on the total redesign of the 8 series.
Now put on some Slayer at high volume for the next 100 hours and get the drivers loose!

...Alright folks—it looks like the date for the inaugural New Orleans Audio & Music Group will be Saturday, February 9th at my home. We will begin at 1pm and go till whenever. I will provide all food and an open bar.
Anyone with an interest in audio reproduction systems and music is welcomed to attend. We are shooting, initially, for a meeting every two months at a different member’s home.
I am located in Hahnville, LA (St. Charles parish).
If you want to attend or want info, leave a contact email in this thread and I will respond to you with directions. For those that already have my mobile number, feel free to contact me on that.
I will kindly ask if you plan to attend, please try to RSVP with me, as I am trying to get a semi accurate head count (for food and booze).
The FB Page is in the works, and I will be gathering email/contact info as well, so info on future gatherings will be a bit easier next time around.
I hope that some of you that have participated in this thread for the last few years can attend...there will be at least 3 audio dealers here as well—a good place to get to know them.
I am planning on having 4 complete audio rigs running in different rooms—each system will be unique (some tubes, some solid state, conventional speakers, planar speakers, open baffle speakers, full range speakers).
Also, if there is something you want to hear, bring it. I usually play a selected song list for about an hour and then cut the rig loose for all to use as they want.

Crap!
We sponsor the gumbo cookoff downtown that day. I’ve placed the last 2 years. I need to see what the times are. It is usually early in the day. May be able to make it late in the afternoon. Assuming, it’ll be going into the evening.

So, I discovered something a little bit ago... I’m missing a ton of low end out of one speaker. Not necessarily due to the speaker (Vandy 1Ci), but due to its placement and the design of the room.
I’ve theorized that this was an issue before, but through accident and moving them around to clean I was like well frick!
Anyways... what I think the problem is that where my right speaker is set up when I’m really listening there is an open space behind it. Which is the door to the hall way. My left speaker has a wall for the sound to come off of. Correct me if I’m wrong Marco... if you or any of you for that matter think that it could be something else...
Guess my question is, short of putting a door there.... any other ideas to close it off while listening?
Heavy curtain? Some sort of pull down shade? Trying not to go back into the 70s
I assume I could put a sliding door maybe, but I’d prefer not to go that route if possible.

If you are asking if I sat in a chair late last night listening to The Cure’s “The Head on the Door” with a revolver in my hand—-well, no.
Truthfully, it isn’t a big deal...just a college game. It is, however, quite fun jerking the chains of people on the rant while listening to music at night—it makes my audio rig play with more clarity!
As I approach the half century mark, I realize there are more important things in life to get flustered over. I’ve been to 3 nattys (92,11,12), so the bucket list is checked off. We will be back in it in short order—Saban ain’t done yet!
Now, if you try to drive a planar speaker with a 10 watt tube amp, I may get a little pissed off...
...and yeah—we got our asses handed to us!
