I bought the Black Cube on Marco's recommendation...I'm a believer. Lot's of flexibility with either MM or MC (currently I am running a Zu Audio modified Denon DL-103 Mk.II on my Rega P3).

i can vouch for that scout too. looks almost exactly like my table with a little bit different arm, motor and platter. i've had zero issues with it, and love it.
The one linked is a aries & mine is a scout 1.1? i'm still not sure the difference other than the few things stated above.
The unipivot tonearm is a bit strange at first, but i dig it. I think i paid $1,300 for mine used through soundstage direct before they went under, so that price looks good.
ETA: It's also a lot more substantial feeling than it appears in pictures. The plinth is very solid and pretty heavy.

The original scout has the notch cutout on the platter for adding the periphery ring clamp...I believe the 1.1 did not have this. The periphery ring, although not cheap, is a great option to have.

Someone bought it for 4 dollars more than my offer wish he would have countered

Oh man that’s a bummer. Yeah I saw that final sold price, and it seemed like a steal. Was hoping it was your offer.

My setup was:
Teac TN-400s turntable
Peachtree Decco65 amp
Tekton M-Lore speakers
Sounded great for my space. But due to visual aesthetics and space (wife), I had to go a different route. We already have a Sonos Beam and two Play 3's in the living room. I had a Sonos connect I wasn't using and decided to run the turntable to the connect's inputs. It's not quite as good but pretty impressive. Also allows the vinyl to play through the whole house.
Currently listening to Traffic: John Barleycorn Must Die. A Christmas gift from my brother.

First time poster on this thread, I think.
Anyway, just made significant upgrade to my system by purchasing Troel's Gravesen's ATS4-HE speakers made by Troel's himself. I can't think of a set of speakers under $50k that I'd trade them for.
Photo
Rest of system:
VLT TL 5.5 pre-amp
VTL MB-185 monoblocks
Esoteric K-03 CD/SACD
PS Audio P300
Got no vinyl or streamer. Marco, what you gonna do with that Denon turntable? If selling, reply and then we can talk.

Just starting research on it. Perhaps. His is a little nicer model. Looking at stuff on Audiogon. Maybe a Linn.
I've built some of Troel's speakers before. The ATS4-HE has about $9k in parts and would take me 500 hours to build. Troel's sold me the
Ones he had in his house. It's basically a Wilson Alexia but with bigger drivers in the lower section. Had it hooked up for two days and am just floored by how good they sound. Let's just says I'm set on speakers for a while. Debating vinyl and/or streamer. Not reason to settle for anything that isn't in the same league as the rest of the set up.
I've also got another room with an Anthem pre-amp/amp driving some professional La Scalla's that have crossover/component upgrades. Loud, but they sonically don't hold a candle to anything I've heard/bought/built from Troels.
The DIY and used audiophile world is fascinating. I'm pretty sure you never stop learning. There are some great deals out there if you know what you are looking for. Troels website is very educational. He also is a very helpful fellow helping me repeatedly as I adjust the new speakers to match their new environment.
Also starting to get very focused on room treatments. Troels says the room is half your system. What recommendations do you have on that topic?
TIA

My good friend, the one who made the Phish and GD Steal Your Face prints on metal you see in some of my pics, is big time into DIY. He just finished another pair of speakers last week. The cabinets shipped from the UK and he assembled and used Fostex drivers.
He is a Fostex and Lowther guru, but has built with Zu and Voxativ drivers too. It seems every week he tells me he has another pair of full range drivers coming in from somewhere. He also has some cool one-off speakers made by Zu, as Sean who owns Zu is a friend.
I have also heard his stories from The Burning Amp Festival, and yeah, those guys are fanatical.
I have a couple amp kits here I need to get around to.
As the Denon table goes, I have given first right of refusal to a fella in this thread and he says he wants it. If not, second right goes to another in this thread that asked me for it. You are third and the winner if the others don’t want it. The Pioneer has also been claimed by another regular in this thread.
Room treatments....man—where to begin!...I am dealing with it now. I’ll update this thread as I begin to tackle it (all my needs are for low frequencies).
Welcome to the thread!

Those speakers are screaming for a better space, man. Acoustically, that looks like a nightmare. No offense intended.
