Phil...
Went through this not all that long ago and had to get 10’ of cable. Even 9’ of decent audio quest (rocket 33s) will get you for $300-$400 for regular price speaker cables. I have audio quest king cobra interconnects and the rocket 33s for cable. Think it cost me around $450-$500 or so with a discount from Music Direct.
Depends on your budget...
Think Marco uses or at least has used Acoustic Zen products and Nordust right off hand. He recommended to me to grab a set of Acoustic Zen Wow interconnects recently as an upgrade to my king cobras. I think he has used the Nordost brand as well. Nordost and Kimber are what he recommended in the beginning.
The better interconnects can be had for decent cost if you shop around a bit. The speaker cables can get pricey at that length.
Audioquest, Kimber and Nordost are what was recommended brand wise along with the Wow interconnects mentioned earlier. (Listed least to most expensive)
Get on Music Direct and look for deals on there... always running specials on cables. Audioadvisor can make you cables to your specific connectors and length and have decent prices. Again... what is your budget and the suggestions could be more specific.

On your speaker wires make sure you are getting the right type. I had a few issues b/c they sent me bi-wire connections and my Vandys are just a standard type with 2 connections that are spades.
I’m sure that McIntosh has any connection you want on the amp with regards to bananas, spades or xlr... just need to match up the speaker connections.
Musicdirect doesn’t look like it has a bunch on special right now. Have some interconnects in and around $100 a set up to 1 meter. The Kimber PBJs have been around for a long time... but I’m no expert by any means, just going off of what I’ve learned here.
I almost did audioadvisor for the speaker cables b/c the cost is less b/c they make it up for you off of bulk wire. Just put in what terminations you need and it’ll give you a price.

yeah just standard connection but would accept banana plugs. i've actually never used any type of connectors on them, just bare wire, so i'm not really sure which of the connectors, spade or banana plugs, are the leading favorites. i would think spades due to contact and pressure, but that's just a guess.
i will definitely check out audioadvisor.
eta: thanks for the heads up on the bi-wiring cables. def just need the standard.

Marco, I saw that Analogue Productions is taking pre orders for a UHQR release of Axis Hold as Love. How would you compare this to the Mofi Ultra disk releases?
Worth buying a couple as investments?
Bump

The mono version is already sold out, but I'm assuming the resale value on the stereo version will be good as well

I would buy stereo. I have a Classic Records 200g mono version, but am used to hearing the stereo version over all these years.

Arrived today, all set up. Sounds great. Balmorhea’s track “On the Weight of Night” hits. Been throwing all sorts at it, and I’m happy.

Thanks man. For an entry level model this thing is a monster. I can only imagine how heavy some of your pieces are.
Posted on 1/24/18 at 9:28 pm to PhilipMarlowe
About 450 lbs. for the Mac gear...
You still need interconnects?

Watching these guys tonight.....loud!

Yeah. That’s heavy.
I am still looking for some recs for turntable interconnects. And what’s the best method/device to stream music and take advantage of the DAC, and what’s the best DAC input to use?

I like my quad...
But man I’m kinda jealous!
I’ll step up one of these days.
Marco is that a stream?

Looks nice! Glad it worked out.
I've been scanning the classifieds on Audiogon for a while, but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. First I need to decide what direction I really want to go.
