Run by a dude named Mookie? He apparently brings bands from all over the country to play in his living room I think. Anybody heard of this or been to one of Mookie's shows? He's apparently really pushing hard to have a good music scene in Baton Rouge and I applaud that kind of effort.

I’ve never been, but a lot of my friends have played shows there. It’s another fun byob venue and a young crowd with a house party vibe.

I don’t see it being sustainable for too long because it’s in a nice neighborhood, and I cannot imagine his neighbors like a bunch of teenagers and early 20-somethings getting shitfaced and listening to loud punk music on a thursday night.

My friends were doing regular house party shows in Hammond, so I guess Mookie thought to bring that atmosphere to BR. He started it when that venue owner on Foster pulled a gun on a hardcore band by providing a backup location for those shows as the venue folded.

Good thing, too, with so many venues closing down temporarily or Permanently all around the same time.

Dyson is closing, but is still open a little while longer. Their lease is up on that building. It may or may not reopen in a different location or go back to doing shows inside Christian Street Furniture. I’ve also heard rumors they may simply pair up with Mid City Ballroom.

You have a serial downvoter man.

I think Dyson is sending all of their gigs to Mid City

I remember when Thou first started they used to do shows in, I think the guitarist's, apartment living room. It was some crappy apartment near LSU not a nice neighborhood though.

It's a regular house off Stuart ave with a regular living room and a regular back yard. He just gets in touch with touring acts and sets up shows with his band and his friends' bands. I've been to a couple shows there...mookie is a solid dude, good old fashioned 25 year old long hair bro doggie doing what he can to give the hip scene here a chance to see some fresh acts that dont have a big enough following to play at varsity.

Before their lease was extended, John was going to have the remaining shows at Christian Street Furniture.
