Sound Plus, I bought quiet a few CD's from there way back. Mostly Euro type rave and house music. It was the other place to shop besides Record Rack.

which is the one that looked like a swiss chalet just out of montrose? i think record rack was the larger one that always had a disturbing number of gg allin items on display.

power tools GOAT. school night, little bo peep night, dr suess night, stream-of-consciousness night..and those Go Go Girls with the little day-glo anklets and bracelets on the little platforms with the black lights going GOAT i says! when you had enough dancing to the sanford & son theme mixed with beastie boys you could always go out the back door under the overpass where there was always some sad little musician with a guitar and amp playing.

Throwing Muses and Cocteau Twins. Either you were with your girl or trying to find one huh?

did you miss kelly gray? dont hate..i'm a H*U*G*E 4AD fan. i will fully admit to leaving what i thought was my dream concert..CT...because Liz warbling was insufferable live. i couldn't believe i was bailing on CT early after i had waited years for them to come someplace near me. (and yes, i was with a girl both times. shocker i know.)

Saw them in '91 at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans. My buddy and I took a cab from Metairie to the show since we could not drive yet, and our parents would not bring us. I love Jane's but they were never the same without Eric Avery.

ummmm ... anybody over 40 that had an interest in music late 80's and early 90's was.

Saw them many times:

NOLA Music Hall (now Howlin Wolf) ... November 1990' - small venue and amazing
Municipal Auditorium .... sometime in 91'
Lollapalooza 1 (Washington and Atlanta) Classic lineups
Madison Square Garden ... 2001 (cash grab and not great)
Shaky Knees in Atlanta ... 2016 (Perry's voice had given out)

They always occupied a cool niche in rock and roll. A lot of people were nearly completely unaware of them yet they were consistently selling out concerts, making great records, etc.

i mean they really only had two good albums..

And all those songs were written right when the band first started. The songs on Ritual were all mostly written at the same time as the ones on Nothings Shocking.

They never attained that level of creativity again.

Was luck enough to see them at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans on their last non-Lalapolooza tour before they broke up. Was an amazing concert. Eye opening.

Saw them live a month or two after they dropped Ritual. They opened up their set with Stop and to this day I’ve never heard a crowd get as hyped up as when they played that song. It was nuts.

Saw them in Denver in 91 with Primus opening in a field house. Not many knew who Primus was, but they wrecked the place. JA came on and they were awesome as well until Perry caught a shoe and a attitude before storming off stage.

They’re aight. Nothing against them. Perry did start Lollapalooza so there’s that.

mainly stick with XXX, Nothing's Shocking, and Ritual.

I definitely recommend their first live album. It’s their debt and I’ve always called it XXX too (although that’s the record label). Recorded at the Roxy in 1987 it’s pretty incredible.

I walked into Paradise Records sometime probably in the fall of ‘89 and bought Nothing Shocking and Magmun Cum Louder by the Hoodoo Gurus blind. Both purchases ended up getting a shite ton of plays. Both are classics albeit in different genres.
