I have rediscovered them recently. I was a big fan about 15 years ago when I was at LSU, but then kinda forgot about them for a long time. Recently I was recommended their album "Nothing's Shocking" from a friend, and I can't believe that I neglected this classic for so long!
Every single track on this album is a banger, with every instrument being played proficiently and in harmony with each other. Lyrically, musically, thematically, it is for sure one of the best rock albums of the past few decades.
I think unfortunately for them, they came out a bit ahead of their time. They occupied a weird space between glam rock of the 80s and the burgeoning grunge movement of the early 1990s. I know they have had their share of success, but I would hesitate to call it a "fair" share, as I do not believe they get anywhere near the recognition the deserve.
Thats my $0.02, any one else a major JA fan??

that entire day still feels surreal to me 31 years later. still have my tshirt
ritual de lo habitual was also insanely good but got panned by "Jane purists" back in the day because of the break out hit 'been caught stealing'.
Three Days
10 minutes of sonic bliss.

I meant, we used to listen to them in college but I kinda forgot about them. Then, recently a friend mentioned how good Nothings shocking is, so I decided to listen to it again for the first time in years.

My only connection to them is when they closed at Buzz Fest in Houston and paused the set to announce that Bin Laden had been killed. Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion was rocking with chants of USA! Will never forget that. Great night up on the lawn

<---big one.
First time to ever hear of them when they opened for Love & Rockets at Tips in '87. Been a fan since but mainly stick with XXX, Nothing's Shocking, and Ritual. Nothing Shocking is definitely a top 5 all time for me.

I was introduced to them a little later in the 90s; Kettle Whistle album is what got me going. some of those songs are live and oh boy are they great. that's a great intro to JA and a fantastic example of what their body of work had become. I was so pumped to see them at Voodoo and it was great, then they came back and literally played the same exact set, and that was weird. I can't imagine how intense the shows on the Sunset Strip were in the 80s. really great band and they absolutely changed music forever.

they blew it away at the first lolla. and fishbone, body count, violent femmes, siouxsie, living color, NIN, butthole surfers, rollins band...they had a HELL OF A LOT to live up to as headliners.
i just remember it was all a haze but damn those songs were even better live and at some point there was a 30 foot scarecrow walking around on the stage and at that point i felt more like the whole thing was a dream. a guy passed out in front of us and dropped an 8x10" LSD blotter. the chick i was with snapped it up and stuffed it into her purse almost before it hit the ground
there will never be another lineup like that.
this was the age before cellphones & selfies and the vibe was completely different. i dont know how people enjoy concerts these days.

Sound Plus, I bought quiet a few CD's from there way back. Mostly Euro type rave and house music. It was the other place to shop besides Record Rack.
My friend was a DJ at Power Tools on sunday nights.
Throwing Muses and Cocteau Twins. Either you were with your girl or trying to find one huh?

I've been listening to The Great Escape Artist. It's pretty good. Grown on me. They're playing at Louder Than Life in Louisville on Friday night before Metallica
