Have always played in standard with a brief foray into drop D tuning during the grunge years. I'm finna start experimenting with some drop A, however.

Open G is a must for Stones and Black Crowe covers.
Surprisingly easy to tune into from standard, and fun to play.

I like drop D and a capo for doing piano parts on acoustic. For example, Tiny Dancer and gospel like Reach Out To Jesus worked well that way.
Open G feels like cheating but sounds so sharp and clean on a tele.

Dropped D for a few songs.
I've always felt open tunings and one-finger barre chords were cheap, but I'm not exactly a professional musician.

We do one song in Drop D. There are some songs we drop a 1/2 or whole step to accommodate the singer. You would think with a female singer we wouldn't have drop any tunes down, but here we are.

I play a lot in open Emaj and open Cmaj, open Dmaj sometimes too. It's also easy to change all of these tunings to their minors by flattening the 3rd.
I usually play the first guitar parts in standard tuning and then use the open tunings for fills and melodic emphasis, slide sometimes, though I have a few songs that are in open tunings entirely.
It's really fun to play the open tunings on the resonator guitar. The old swampy blues sound just drips out of it. It's easy to get lost in it if I'm not careful.

I have a cigar box guitar that I play in either open G or D depending on the mood.

Apparently I'm going to have to get a new tuner because my little Snark clip on won't register anything below my bottom E string.

Open A and Open E tunings sound great if you keep it tuned that way long enough to learn what chords sound good together playing that way.
