Sad story of a troubled genius.

One of the few musicians that you can pin point as a transformative influence.

Music

BJ (Before Jaco) and AJ (After Jaco)

Played bass on an Ian Hunter album called "All American Alien Boy". I had never heard of him until then, but he does a bass solo in that song which is epic.

There's a documentary on Netflix called "Jaco", which tells his remarkable and troubled story. It was actually produced by Metallica's Robert Trujillo, and has some really cool and rare footage.

I think you gotta have Stanley Clarke in there somewhere but I'm not sure who you replace. Definitely not Victor.

Jaco was the greatest. Pick up Punk Jazz to hear why this guy ruled.

Mick Karn is second - his solo record "Titles", is a stone cold bass classic. He played a fretless Wal bass like no one else.
