It is amazing to me the number of top-quality songs on their 5 albums (3 LPs and 2 EPs) with Layne Staley. I’m also a fan of their post-Layne stuff, but those 5 albums are unbelievable.

The big music media Rolling Stone type magazine elitists never shut up about Kurt Cobain & Nirvana but it was Alice In Chains that were the true legends of the “grunge” era.

Given the choice between the two, I'm putting Alice in Chains on instead of Nirvana 9 out of 10 days. I can't get down with post-Staley AIC though.

Even without Layne Staley, they're incredible. With him, they're one of my favorite bands. My favorite music to listen to super late at night if I haven't been able to fall asleep.

Couldn’t agree more. Still love nirvana but couldn’t agree more with this statement

Nirvana turned the world upside down with Nevermind and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Alice In Chains Facelift came out a year before Nevermind originally they were marketed as metal, which Facelift really is, they got swept up as grunge because they were also from Seattle and everyone (read as record labels) wanted to capitalize but there’s no “Grunge wave” with out Nirvana.

Now if you want to argue AIC is a better band, that’s a different argument.
