They're alright. I enjoy their live performances, but rarely (if ever) find myself listening to their album...

Ive never listened to their album, but man, the lead singer belting it live is pretty damn impressive. Saw them down in Buena Vista, Colorado under all the 14ers and on a handful of boomers. It was amazing. Yeah

They're okay. Some really good songs some meh. They are BORING live. The show I saw there was zero interaction with the audience. It was like they just hit play and ran through all their songs.

Love their albums, they're decent live, but Give me all your love is one of my favorite songs of all time.

First album is exceedingly better than all the electronic shite introduced to their second. I was a big fan of the first, but when the second knocked them down a peg for me. Subjective of course, but that's how I feel.

Agree 100%. Seen them twice live and was just like this both times. They don't do anything interesting live or add any energy or juice to it.

Their 2nd album received far more critical acclaim. And it took me quite a few listens, but it has way more substance to it than the debut.
To the OP, I'd say they are properly rated. Brittany howard is fantastic. They aren't an all time great band, no one really thinks that. But they are very, very solid.

I liked them when I saw them by accident at SXSW about 5 years ago. I mean, I wasn't in love with them, but they sounded pretty good and the singer seemed pretty passionate. But overall, their sound is just a rehash of something that's already been done and it gets boring.
