AC/DC with Bon Scott is one of the best rock bands of all time. I’ve heard people saying that AC/DC is overrated. This is just stupid. Before Bon Scott’s death, AC/DC was amazing. With Brian Johnson, they still have very good music, but there is no comparison. Back in black is one of the greatest rock albums of all time, but AC/DC with Bon Scott is one of if not the best rock band of all time

Agreed on their greatness. They are very simplistic, perform the same routine, and have had no evolution in their music, but the 1 thing they do they are absolutely great at it. Hard to find a band that just plain rocks as hard as they did throughout their careers.

Some music serves as art. Some music serves as a commercial commodity. And some music serves as a cathartic avenue in which you clinch your fists, bang your head, and have a good time.

AC/DC is the latter.

Rock ‘n’ roll will always be defined by its energy, image, and message. AC/DC is high-octane, balls-to-the-wall, and testosterone-infused badassery. It’s Chuck Berry on steroids.

I love progressive and technical acts, but sometimes I just want to jam the frick out.

Best pure rock and roll band to ever grace the stage.

Most of the 1978 tour tales from Van Halen Rising feature the group outshining their more established peers. But when faced with following AC/DC ("One of the most powerful live bands I've ever seen") at Day on the Green, Eddie confessed to battling a case of nerves: "We have to follow these motherfrickers?" Luckily, Van Halen rose to the occasion. "I remember feeling that we held our own," Eddie remembers. "I was really happy. ... I didn't think anybody could follow them."

I agree with the OP. AC/DC with Bon was greatness. To all the haters: stick that in your fusebox.

Oh, and 'Powerage' is their best album.

I wouldn’t use the word “ooverrate” because it’s not very meaning ful in terms of specifics. But, I would say they were always
Pretty damned basic. Nothing groundbreaking. Not particularly exciting..

It depends on what you like, right? Catchy , anthem-power chord rock with every man lyrics that gets the testosterone going ? Then yeah, AC/DC is your band. They did that about as well as it’s ever been done.

When Back in Black came out all my music snob friends mocked me for defending it. I will always defend it for being among the best of its genre. But if that’s not your thing, you probably aren’t going to like it. With music, what people DON’T like is very important to them. Particularly “ high brow” listeners.

Yeah, very true.

There's all kinds of music for various purposes. Party music, sentimental music, introspective stuff, etc.

I liked AC/DC thru "For Those About To Rock" and after that it got squirrely. It's good driving/head banging music.

AC/DC with Bon is my favorite and I love them with Johnson.

Bon’s singing and lyrics made you feel dirty while Johnson was a punch in the mouth.
