Between here and the gaming board y'all motherfrickers need to stop making me feel old.

The video game Contra just turned 30.

I still can't get over the fact that Metallica actually tried to sell that piece of garbage named St. Anger in 2003 to their fans. What an insult.

I have a hard time listening to anything past and including the Black album other than S&M. Their first 4 albums are all classic and rank up there with the best of the best from any group.

Very few Metallica songs just paint a picture in your head quite like The Thing That Should Not Be. IMO their most underrated song.

I will put side 1 of this record up against any release in history. It's perfect.

Side 2 kicks arse as well, but Side 1 is flawless.

Side 2 has Orion. That automatically puts it in the pantheon.

I think I've said it before, but while Metallica were in the studio crafting this, AC/DC were releasing SINK THE PINK. They didn't even know they were being rendered horribly obsolete by a group of poor 23 year olds in real time. There's nothing I don't love about this entire masterpiece - including the fact that the logo is written in marble on the cover.)

Metallica will never even come close to approaching the greatness that is AC/DC.

your loss...

ever since this thread was started a few days back...I have been on a Metallica kick...great body of work imho...does it change and go through different brands of metal/rock/whatever?...yes...but that doesn't mean the more mainstream stuff in the late 90's and early 2000's all sucked....St. anger is not great though..I will give you that..
