So many of those shaped my music world for the next many years and even listen to today.
As a matter of fact back in 1987 and in less than 10 days away I would attend my first Cure Concert and my little 13 year old self was completely blown away

Vividly, especially Sept 18, 1987.

Wow that’s pretty specific?
Was that a football game?

Maybe it was the 25th. Not so vivid I guess.

Must have been a life changing event on a Friday Night

Eat a Peach-Allman Brothers
At Fillmore East-Allman Brothers
Abraxas-Santana
Fragile-Yes

I think these were also released in 1971 but I am not 100% certain.

Chloe Dancer is one of the greatest songs i've ever heard. Its 2 songs in one. Andy went too soon thinking what MLB could have been. PJ doesn't come close to what MLB was!

That’s a crazy statement and complete nonsense. MLB released one Album after Wood died and Pearl Jam is still making music to this day.
We will never know how great they would have been.

You forgot Don Meclean. American Pie was released in 1971 also.

1984 crushed 1987 and neither of them are the best year overall

I must have listened to Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me on a continuous loop for a month straight.
Saw this tour and when they began to play Snakepit, the arena was shrouded with a cloud of pot smoke.
UNO Lakefront Arena...

So many bands I love on that list, but almost all were past where I liked them best.

84, not 87
Highlights:
Van Halen - 1984
Prince - Purple Rain
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Zebra - No Telling Lies
Bon Jovi
The Pretenders - Learning to Crawl
Ratt - Out of the Cellar
Styx - Caught in the Act
Bob Marley - Legend
Steven Ray Vaughn - Couldn’t Stand the Weather
Hank Williams Jr - Major Moves
Madonna - Like a Virgin
Foreigner - Agent Provocateur
Rush - Grace Under Pressure
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA
Tina Turner - Private Dancer
Foreigner - Agent Provocateur
Billey Ocean - Suddenly
Ricky Skaggs - Country Boy
Most of all...it gave us Robert Earl Keen - No Kinda Dancer, which provided the immortal lyrics from Swirvin' in My Lane
"You keep a-swervin' in my lane
And it's causin' lots of danger
I'm a-cussin' out your name
I'm a-shootin' you the finger
I keep a-switchin' on my bright lights
But you're just too dim to know
When you're swervin' on life's highway
You're runnin' someone off the road"
Not saying this was the best year...just some other stuff I liked from that year.

86-87 is the start for me with most of these bands. Discovering them to exploring their back catalogue to waiting for new music. Was the beginning of my Love of Music.
