Jamie didn't order the hit. But he discussed doing it. And shouldn't have been so surprised when it happened. And is now running with the results of it. So yeah... at least complicit. Knew or should have known sort of thing.

My guess on how this ends is that Jamie comes to Beth and Kayce and admits he was in on the plot to overthrow, not necessarily kill, John.
He convinces them that he can truly help protect the ranch and after that's done Beth can take him to the train station.
Beth and Rip then get the hell out of Montana and settle down somewhere new. Spinoff.
