Add the same number of a-hole men characters who think they can do anything they want or are ridiculously bad asses like Rip and Kayce. Escapism as well. Just a different kind.
Either way, most people on here aren't complaining about it's lack of "reality". It's a TV show. They need to make it appeal to both sexes if they really want a big hit! As TV shows go, this is a really good one!

Just dropping in to express me hate for Monica. Can’t even stand to see her on the tv.
She makes everything she’s involved in worse and she’s responsible for the majority of the conflict in Kacey’s life. Wish she had been killed off in the opener which would fit the rest of the show perfectly. All of the lead characters lost their mother/wife save for Rip & Beth for each other. Kacey could raise Tate on the ranch like he wants and quit allowing Monica to screw him up. John fixed his nightmares. Kacey fixed his crippling anxiety about the attack. Both were made worse by Uber helicopter mom Monica.

The problem with Beth is the same I continue to have with strong female leads. The writers are forced to write them as "bullet proof".
You can't touch them otherwise its sexist. So who is able to put Beth in her place? Another strong female lead. There isn't one. So she runs around with no comeuppance.
Also, my entire issue with the "hysterectomy" storyline is no qualified doctor, at least not one receiving federal funds on a reservation, is performing that surgery on a healthy female minor without parental consent. Reservation or not...thats not believable. Its an ethical thing.
She is so untouchable they let her survive a bomb that blew out windows.
I don't dislike her because she serves as a foil for too many characters, but she spoils every plot line because she will come out on top.

Jamie is a selfish coward that stole his sisters potential happiness. Argument can be had on how he got that way and how much is him vs his upbringing.
That said, I’m 50/50 on whether Jamie will save the day or turn out it have armed Johns enemies (trying to be respectful of spoilers as best I can).
Kayce, I agree is the least POS and I very much like his character. It’s why I hate Monica so much.

Bit of a reach. What impact does Lee have on Kayce, Rip, Jamie, Beth? The only one who’s mentioned him since the funeral is John.

Could have been scared for the ramifications to the family name, and by extension his own future. Jamie seems to have been the most ambitious of the bunch, particularly politically. While not exactly his choice, he knew the potential for himself becoming a lawyer with the Dutton name and influence. Scared or not, takes a pos to make that choice and not say a word.

John seems to have really only treated one child well, but was hard on even him. Obviously Rip was treated the worst on the whole. Beth and Jamie were treated worse mentally. Beth used it to become a hardened and ruthless businesswoman. Jamie remained cowardly and weak in almost every capacity besides defending his family in legal matters.

I kind of like the "Jimmy redemption" aspect of the show. However, if everyone of his peers keep shitting on him, he will either go back to drugs, or grab a scatter gun and take out about 5 mother frickers and then himself.
That's the only way I see Jimmy's arc playing out right now.
