It’s underrated.

I actually went to see it in theaters, in part to pay my respect to the funeral.

A Scott centered movie was a step in the right direction.

The XMen film franchise died when they made Apocalypse into a one dimensional idiot played by a 5'10" Cuban dude in bad makeup.

Dark Phoenix, which is easily one of the greatest comic book sagas ever made, didn't stand a chance...

Hopefully the MCU does a faithfulto the comics Phoenix and Dark Phoenix storyline

If the MCU wants to have another amazing decade they need to get rights to the X-men and Fantastic Four and do them right. And guess what the X-men are full of different kinds of people which would fit Disney’s agenda but they’ll still probably try to make other characters something they are not.

A botched depiction of a great story line mired in the need to make Jennifer Lawrence the lead

"You may want to think about changing the name to X-Women..."

I grew up reading XMen comics - and the Dark Pheonix Saga is one of my favorite storylines - so I was looking forward to this. But man I couldn't do it. I turned it off not even halfway through.

I thought they'd be hard pressed to make a movie worse than Age of Apocalypse, but they outdid themselves.

It was very obvious they wanted her to be a focal point when her character didn't warrant that

She dies 40 minutes into a 2 hour movie. How in the world is that trying to make her focal point?

also they kill off raven and seems like gene as well yet a very much older gene was already long dead having been killed by logan in the other x-men movie (cant remember which one) so there was so much WTF in this movie it was hard to ignore and just watch the story.

The events of Days of Future Past split the timeline

That said, it was a terrible movie to end the franchise on

The 2 part X-Men issue where they fight the Shi'ar Imperial Guard on the moon is one of the best comics ever. Still a great read today.

Yes. And somehow the print version of that is more heartfelt than the screen depiction.

I remember the call for help to the X-Men, and Xavier's response was extremely cool to see.

But this is the one superhero movie that I didn't bother to see in the theater. And everything Mutant between Days of Future Past and Logan has faded out of my memory.

From a franchise standpoint they were. She was the popular casting choice, just like Sophia Turner, and not the right casting choice.

The franchise making too much of Mystique/Jennifer Lawrence annoyed me more than anything Sansa did.

This absolutely inexplicably idiotic decision to exalt frickin Mystique over all other X-men was a franchise killer.

The franchise went south with Apocalypse. The character is way off but it's the least Mystique centric of all of them.

As soon as these movies went away from McAvoy and Fassbender carrying the franchise is when they started to suck. Both of those guys outclassed every other actor in the entirety of their run outside of Isaac (but even he was bad.)

I mean, I get it, it’s the XMen and you can’t focus on Professor X and Magneto ALL the time but outside of those two, and maybe Hoult as Beast and Kevin Bacon in the first one, the casting was kind of a shite show. Especially Sophie. She was fricking GOD awful. JLaw was fine in the first two but she fricking mailed it in the next two and was almost as bad as Turner.

ETA: Having said that, Days of Future Past is one of my favorite X-Men movies.

To double down on it, I would love if they got McAvoy to be the new Professor X in the MCU version. I’d say Fassbender to return as Magneto too but there are rumors he might be Doctor Doom
