quote:The company I used to sell advertising for paid for lots of different "Sales" training classes. A communications class that we had to sit through in the mid 2000s warned us that sarcasm, on any level, was bullying. I knew I was in trouble. Pretty sure I laughed out loud when the lady teaching us said that.
you cannot be insulting of any group
The sad thing is most sarcasm is based on the truth. An individual having memories that align with the joke being told is what makes it funny. Real comedians joke about real life situations. They don't have to make stuff up. Most people have memories of situations, like Eddie Murphy's neighborhood kids that chastised other kids by saying, "You ain't got no ice cream".
If we didn't have memories of mean kids in our neighborhoods doing something similar, it wouldn't be funny.
Today we are being taught to shame people that make that kind of joke. That feels like a "two wrongs make a right" situation to me.
Mean is mean and funny is funny.

It's very possible that you got older and view it as stupid now.

Crank Yankers was hit or miss, but when it was on, it was fricking hilarious. Like the time they called the adult bookstore and the employee Had to pretend to be the pizza place to fool the caller's mom. shite had me cracking up.
How many of you are old enough to remember the Mark Knopfler prank calls? People used to pass these around on cassette tape.

Maybe I'm a sourpuss but watching celebrities prank call people just trying to do their job just makes me want to drop kick those celebrities and shite on their front porch, not laugh.

you probably just grew up. Prank calls where you're 13 = can be pretty funny. Prank calls when you're 33 = pretty lame.
