Your obviously free to parent how you want, but just imagine the kid at lunch in freaking high school telling someone he hasn't seen deadpool because his mom/dad won't let him
Does he not have any other means of watching a movie than at home/in a theater with you? I'm sure he's seen it anyway

You don't let a 16 year old watch rated R? WTF I was watching the Sopranos at like 10

If you're old enough to drive an automobile, you're old enough to see the movie Logan.

My dad used to have a hockey mask he bought for Halloween. He would hide and wear the mask whenever I had my friends over spending the night watching horror movies as a kid. He would wait until one of us went to the bathroom or got a snack during the movie....then jump out and scare us
Gotta love 80s parenting!

There have been a few R rated movies he has seen, but they've all been rated R for language and violence... most are older movies that nowadays would probably have received a PG13 rating.
That being said, I know he has access to more nudity, violence and profanity nowadays than I ever did as a child. Still doesn't mean I'm going to let him watch whatever he wants whenever he wants.

I'm probably a bad dad for this, but I took my 9 yo son to it for his birthday. I cringed a bit about all of the F-Bombs and some of the violence, but all in all he liked it... thought it was sad at the end. I don't usually take him to R rated movies or let him watch them etc...
My parents took me to see Poltergeist in the theatre when i was 7 and i never forgave them for that. This was a walk in the park compared to that.

My favorite shite as a kid was Arnold movies. I had both Terminators and Predator on tape when I was like 7 and my parents took me to see True Lies in the theater when I was 9ish.
I think I turned out relatively all right. Kids will be fine seeing some tits in a Marvel movie.

I wasn't allowed to watch Attitude Era WWF, but I started watching WWF in 2001 around the time of Wrestlemania 17. I think I was 11 or 12.

I'm curious as to why all of you think that the movies have a rating system. The majority of you seem to think that parents should let their kids see any movie they'd like. Why have a ratings system if it isn't for parents to use as a guideline?

The ratings system is completely arbitrary and outdated.

since logan had a strong sense of smell
how far of a distance can he detect a fart?

Even if he's following the ratings, a 16 year old is less than a year away from being able to go see whatever they want on their own. "Sorry Johnny, you can't see Logan now, but in six months when you turn 17 you'll be ready."

Yeah. If any kid has a phone or a laptop they have access to all kinds of explicit media. These kids aren't limited to sneaking around and looking at their dad's Playboy collection.
I would agree that the average 16 year old today has seen a lot more in adult content than Logan.
