Even in the non dream world she was the person Dorothy was afraid of, so that transfered over to the dream world. Glenda really shouldnt even factor in because she wasnt even on the farm was she?
So maybe Glenda was Dorothy's self-projection into the dream world. Her "look at me I'm a princess treat me as such!" side that she used to justify doing bad things: taking the slippers, killing the witch, etc.
Crazy bitch needs help before "Glenda" starts telling her to slaughter all the pigs as an offering to satan.

Agree.
I own Signs, Unbreakable, The Village, and Lady in the Water. That is because I like them and wouldn't mind watching them multiple times just like every movie in my collection. Lady in the Water is my favorite I think.
I also agree about The Happening and Last Airbender.
What's unfair is he was held to standards that other new directors aren't held to. Not only that he gets a bad wrap for overusing plot twists when He's really only had 2 or 3.
People need to get off his case and let him do what he wants to do.

Well damn, there actually is one person who liked that film.

I was about to say, as unapologetic as you are about MNS, you cannot defend this one. But there you did it and even say it's your favorite. To each their own, but man I hated this movie.

It's amazing that a scene fit for an especially vapid episode of scrubs was passed off as literally "heart-wrenching" drama on One Tree Hill.
One Tree Hill is also my mother's all-time favorite show.

Didn't like the direction they took in Hancock. They spent the whole movie sending you down one enjoyable path then BOOM shite gets weird(er).

Oh my GAWD!!!
I've never been able to sit through it. I promise I'll try on more time, though, before final judgment.

Come on, man, you are just jerking our chain, huh? What fricking standards is he held to that other directors are not?

Every director in Hollywood says the same thing about themselves.

I bet Evil Dan killed that orderly just like he killed Craig Sheffer. . .

Unfortunately, I know what you're talking about. The dumbass episode with the school shooting.

This will the the last I will defend MNS in this thread. I want to keep it on topic.
You want me to go out and name names? You want me to name the names of directors that don't have as many expectations put on them as MNS had after his revered blockbuster debut? I can't. Not many director's start off that way.
From MNS, the audience wants a twist. But it has to be a twist better than the previous. And if he doesn't want to put a twist in, "well it's not good." Or like in this thread, they make up a twist that wasn't a twist at all. And then if he has a twist it's "not as good as the twist in Sixth Sense" or it's "Oh great, another twist."
The audience is a fickle thing. It wants one thing then demands another. It's overly superficial, hypocritical and is insatiable.
What's bringing MNS down is he started too strong.
What would he have to do in your eyes to be up to par?

I mean who cares about expectations? Thats technically a complement. "Dude, you made some good stuff, we're hoping you put out some more top notch movies." His first two movies were basically unheard of. I know i've never seen them. Two of David Finchers first four movies were Seven and Fight Club for gods sake, you cant get much better than that. Im sure he had some serious expectation. What about Terrance Malick... everybody on the planet expects him to produce amazing work everytime he puts a film out.

I dont buy this. I dont think after Unbreakable people were like "Ewww we need a twist in this next film!" So then he put out Signs and there was no twist it just wasnt a great movie, nobody cared about it not having a twist. Then he put out The Village and the twist sucked, not in comparison to The Sixths Sense twist, but in comparison to any good movie twist. So it got hated on. Ect. Ect. for his movies until its to the point now where he doesnt even care and seems to be in it just for the money.

Not a legit excuse imo. Many o' directors hava had a fine start to their career and not ended up like he has.

The ending of Repo Men was kind of cool but at the same time depressing and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Which is good.
If you like those movies, you should watch and enjoy them. I would never try and convince you they are dreadful.

This might just be the absolute worst movie of all time. I don't even think you can single out just the ending, but the entire thing is just so god awful.

everything that happened in the last 30 minutes of The American was the dumbest/most illogical/worst plot twist ever
frick that movie

Too many people that post here think everybody reads every article that comes out, searches out every set picture and sees every preview that comes out before a movie shows.
Some of us just want a movie to have good story, be thought provoking or be visually stimulating.
I don't particularly like to know too much about a movie before I see them. Usually viewing the trailer they show in the theater is the only "home work" I'm going to do before going to see a movie.

He made one worse the very next year. At least "The Happening" is unintentionally funny at some points, but "The Last Airbender" is undoubtably the biggest frick you to a fanbase in cinematic history.

Actually Baum wrote Oz as a political allegory. The Wizard in the Emerald City is the president in Washington, the moral to the story is that we look there for answers and the answers are within ourselves. The President is the 'man behind the curtain' who actually has no power at all. So the Wizard is one bad guy, the Witch is the IRS.
