H20 had like 4 different masks, one of which was CGI. All awful. And as much as I love 4 the mask is bad. But Part 5 takes the cake.

This is why I think CGI has ruined movies. It's bad enough that movies abandoned makeup and practical effects, but now they're using CGI for things like fire, gun shots, and fricking masks. Is it really that hard to put a mask on?

Well, if I'm not mistaken, that's a screenshot from Halloween H2O (1998), so it's not really that indicative of CGI these days.

I feel like there was a time after Jurassic Park when substandard CGI got through the quality-control review. I think that time has changed though, and there is a much higher standard for CGI.

As far as digital blood squibs go, I agree that I prefer the real thing, but John Wick uses digital blood squibs fairly effectively, so it's not automatically bad.

I agree some are better than others. Rewatched The Assassination of Jesse James the other day and as incredible as I think that movie is the Nintendo looking gun shot wounds are just silly

The original was a modified Captain Kirk mask.

The masks used in Halloween: H-20 look worst, to me.

As an aside, "H-20" was a horrible title for that movie. I know it was meant to mark the original film's 20th anniversary, but it leads one to believe Myers was gonna be killin' people underwater.
