My point was that a leading performance or protagonist character cannot, by definition, be a love interest.
In the case of Sarah Jessica Parker, I'm sure there are plenty of movies in which she is the love interest, but the satc movies ain't an example.
And, I feel that SJP in the late 80s and early 90s invalidates her from this thread.

There was a brwif period in the early-mid 90s where Drew Barrymore was actually quite cute. Think Wayne's World 2 and Letterman birthday flash era. By the late 90s, however, it was all over. Even by the Wedding Singer it was gone.

Not that I'm saying Maggie Gyllenhaal is hot, but Chris Nolan really did a disservice to her by using her to replace Katie Holmes. Of course everyone thinks Katie Holmes is adorable and a worthy love interest for Batman. Maggie Gyllenhaal is bang on average in comparison. He should've gotten somebody that's a true 9 like Rachel Mcadams or Natalie Portman to replace Holmes, but Gyllenhaal is a noticeable downgrade in looks. Not her fault, she's a pretty decent actress. But we all still noticed that Batman's taste went from an 8.5 to a 5 real quick with no explanation or acknowledgement.

BTW, AURaptor, that's Lady Gaga, and from A Star Is Born.
No, she's not gorgeous at all, but she fit the role perfectly. Cooper's character was drawn to her talent, not her looks.
