Sorry to sound like a dick but I'll never understand the praise for that movie. I tried watching it with my 11 yr old and even he thought it was horrible.

The Avengers was fun and one of the most ambitious films of all time. I think it somewhat deserves its praise, but I find the movie in and of itself to be simply competent. The overall project though is something to be commended.

Why wouldn't they? Steve Trevor has been a main love interest for Wonder Woman for a very long time.

I'm glad he died though because that means this still has a chance.....

Just got out. Good not great. 7.5/10. There were definitely some flaws but it's a good step in the right direction. I really liked how they tied it back to justice league. I'm not going to lie though, I fully expect justice league to suck for some reason.

Snyder is extremely good at creating trailers. The DCEU trailers have all been good for the most part. I don't trust them.

And DC isn't the only one guilty of this. Marvel is terrible at it as well. Remember Ultron where the trailers portrayed it as being an incredibly dark film that contains a disturbing amount of mass murder? Turns out that was a load of bullshite.

Well yeah.. the incredibles were made up on the spot . Making light of superheroes.

Every movie made based on a pre-existing comic has to play on 50+ year old lore.

So , some of it will be silly and make zero sense.
You have to roll with it.

There is no perfect super hero movie. shite, even Casablanca is dumb if you break it down to where , historically, morroco was not a place for wwii refugees.

These movies are made for your inner 13 yr old self. The same one that loved g.i. joe and their stupid call signs. Disbelief is a huge part of it.

They will never satisfy everyone. And the thought of all of our super heroes making it to the big screen with today's effects are truly great.

There are very bad interpretations... i.e . Green lantern.. but this movie , along with nolans Batman, is a fun watch.

There is always room for improvement but no artist ever thinks a project is completely done.

Superman doesn't belong to anybody nor does Wonder Woman belong to anyone.

With that said, Superman and Lois Lane is honestly one of the most overrated and mismatched relationships there is. Lois strikes me as a bit of a cynical woman that is more than happy to chase dangerous stories knowing she has a safety net in Superman to bail her arse out when shite hits the fan. Not only that, but Lois shits all over Clark and treats him as an afterthought while pining for Superman and worshipping him to excessive levels.

And when shite truly hits the fan for Superman and he is facing an unbelievable challenge, Lois truly doesn't understand it because she can't and in some cases doesn't want to and that is of no help to Superman. Wonder Woman does because she is going through that same challenge and wants to help him and a great romance usually has the great element of friendship in it.

Lois Lane may be a decent partner for Clark Kent and we have a great example of that in the Smallville TV series but all in all, she's a horrible match for Superman himself. He needs a woman that that truly understands both stages of his life and someone that's truly a friend at the very base level of association.

What does that matter? Batman Begins and Guardians of the Galaxy were pretty much made up on the spot as well.

Ummm, no it doesn't. Most unique plots separate from the comics. I can't think of many straight up adaptations.

So long as it makes sense in context, but if it doesn't, then it's on the film maker if they don't adapt.

Ok, so there's no truly perfect movie. Who gives a shite? I'm going to judge it based on how it measures up to movies that are universally judged as nearly perfect or at the very least entertaining.

But not to the point of disbelief where it is insulting within the own universe it was established in. If you do, you better make sure it's entertaining and not simply ok.

Are you not getting on how that is a huge part of superman mythos?
Lois is a crazy human woman. Superman just wants to fit in.. he wants to just be Clark.

Here's what you're missing though: Clark Kent isn't Superman; Superman is Clark Kent. Superman is the mask. It's the inverse for Batman, in that Bruce Wayne is the mask and Batman is his actual identity.

DC still has an opportunity to invent a new area of popular culture and comic book lore and invent a new power couple. Superman and Wonder Woman are basically the King and Queen of Comic books, both Marvel and DC. Why not make that officially together to see where it goes?

Scott Summers and Jean Grey's relationship nearly tore apart the universe sometimes in Marvel.

Captain America and Black Widow was a major starting point of drama sometimes in the Avengers.

Batman and Catwoman had adventures together that literally saved Gotham City from complete annihilation.

Green Lantern and Star Sapphire are both members of a lantern corps and their relationship IIRC, had consequences for intergalactic politics.

Aquaman and Mera are King and Queen of the Seven Seas and they've been involved in conflicts underwater that only them together could fight against.

And those are just some examples of couples that have significant influence and consequences of major events in comic stories. Superman is basically a god who basically influences a lot of the events of DC Comics. The same cannot be said for Lois Lane.

Superman and Woman together would have vast and far reaching consequences for the DCEU, their union would be feared and distrusted by governments and organizations that are both criminal and peace keeping. They would be the most dangerous couple in existence and I think even Batman would be highly suspicious of them.

So?

Mythos are just that. Mythos. They're not meant to be permanent and ever lasting for the future.

And how do you think mythos are made? By making new mythos.

Lois is a crazy human woman.

She really is and that craziness can lead her to treat Superman like a security blanket and that just rubs me the wrong way.

Superman just wants to fit in.. he wants to just be Clark.

So does Diana who wants to be Diana as well. When she left Themyscira, she had to find a place and niche in the world that she could keep separate from Wonder Woman.

Just got home... I thought it was fantastic. I really wanted this to be good and Im glad it was. By far the best DCEU film, and as far as origin stories go, this is right up there with Iron Man and Batman Begins for me. Here are a few of my thoughts:

quote:

Ever since BvS, I couldn't wait for her standalone film, and I thought it was everything it needed to be. She's so damned wide-eyed and charming.

THIS. Ive seen some people that have criticized Gal's acting, but I feel like if someone had never seen some of the things WW has seen and was kind of thrown in to this new world, this is exactly how i would want them to portray the character. She has this wide eyed curiosity about her which fits well. Also, this might be the best film to portray why a hero is a hero. Diana would've done everything in her power to make good in the world. That was awesome to see. The tone never felt off. Her scenes during the war carried a lot of weight. She just couldn't fathom how war worked this way and Gal played that perfectly.

Chris Pine was great. Him and GG had great chemistry. Im pretty jealous of him

The rest of the supporting cast was great too. Felt like the group with Captain America in TFA. Everyone had their moment to shine. The humor was also well placed. No cringe worthy moments either.

My only complaint was that the third act was a little rushed. I wish we could've gotten more Ares. A LOTTTT of slo mo, but I still thought it was pretty cool. WW is just so badass. She went nuts at the end when Steve died. Ive never read the comics or anything but her character is so cool to me.

Also, at the end, does she just chill in London until BvS??? And I thought it said Pine would play Steve and his grandson, or maybe I was wrong lol

Overall, it was great. Good for Gal and DC for finally getting it right. i really hope it carries over to JL but we will see.

Diana/Wonder Woman is actually something of a middle ground between these two when you really think about it.

She's Diana as Wonder Woman and she's Wonder Woman as Diana.
